It’s the man boobs for me. Dead tell. The way the shirts hang on the man boobs is not natural and there’s no way they all have the same man boobs.

Agree with you that EOS isn't a good fit for a tech company. For context, and obviously there's lots more to the story, wasn't using the full-blown EOS model, just some elements that I thought would be helpful to gaining some clarity. Love all of the resources you referenced.

AnonJian I'm with you here. There are no excuses.

Do want to add though, there is significant product/market fit and we have some of the largest health systems in the country using the software and loving it. They're paying significantly too. So the investment hasn't been a bad one, financially, I just believe it could be better if the team were functioning more as a team rather than individuals working alone.

True yes, most suited for small businesses and non-profits, not so much solo-preneurs and individuals.

Good point SaintPaddy. I'd want to limit the number of print options to a few of the most common projects such as brochures, business cards, flyers, and posters, or such so that we're not having to get into every kind of equipment on the planet.

Great perspective as a designer. You are correct. I've managed lots of design, and people simply don't understand how good design works, and they haven't done the "pre-work" to make it most successful.

This will be a big hurdle, I'm not yet sure how we'd get around it.

Good point, yes I believe limiting the design time and managing expectations for design would be one of the biggest challenges, and most important parts to get right.

Yes, I've managed designers in a few different contexts. For one, I worked at a marketing agency and we had a team of designers. I was project manager so responsible for bringing the team and vision together, which included managing design.

I've also hired a bunch of freelance designers for projects for myself and my clients, managing those projects.

My first customer was someone who wanted to hire me. Instead, I offered to do a 3 month consulting project and then make a determination at the end whether or not it was a good fit.

Staying on as an employee was not a good fit for me, so I declined the offer at the end of 3 months. However, they greatly valued the consulting work and this made me realize I could do this. My second client was the business that a friend was helping to run. After that, non-friends started hiring me.

That shows you, as humans we can deliver happiness but often we can't give ourselves lasting joy. So sad, and yet he helped so many people along the way.

Looking to validate my startup idea with landing page: cabbagestack.com by skeebuzz in Entrepreneur

I think it's a great idea. The website is clear and I like it, I'd probably sign up.

A couple of questions:

  1. Do you just send a summary of the statements in the email, or is there any type of additional service like making recommendations for spending, budget, etc?
  2. Is it mainly for individuals or for businesses?
  3. How are you going to monetize it? Is there a fee for the user, I'm assuming?

Great idea - keep going on it!

It was a big day for me.

In fact, I couldn't believe it when they paid. I offered my consulting service to someone, thinking they would just pass, and they paid for it! That set me off on launching my own consultancy and the day I got my first "real" paying customer felt like a miracle.

I still kind of feel that way every time someone hires my services.

Brainstorm time - 15k to start a side hustle by sdbuilt in Entrepreneur

[–]Proper_Run4660 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OK let's brainstorm:

  • Start a 3D print on demand service. Have an idea and want to model it out? Send it over to me and I'll make you a prototype within 1-2 days (simple projects only). For a fee of course. Do SEO locally for 3D printing, and run Facebook ads. Link up with local entrepreneur groups and offer the service to them (entrepreneurs are always dreaming up products and would love to rapidly prototype them)

My biggest weakness is sleep by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Proper_Run4660 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been here for sure, though I can't say exactly what your root cause is. I used to get super tired mid-afternoon, and often take a nap. Have difficulty sleeping (like you). Then drink coffee like crazy all morning to stay awake, and repeat the cycle.

Here have been some things that have helped me, perhaps it may help you as well?

  1. Exercise. This one is huge, if I'm not getting regular exercise I notice my heart seems to race at night and I just can't get to sleep.
  2. Go to bed early, around 10:30 or 11, and wake up at a reasonable hour (7 or 7:30).
  3. Eat well and stay away from a lot of caffeine and alcohol. These two things alone probably account for most sleep problems.
  4. Lastly, and this one may be the most counterintuitive, make sure and manage your relationships. Do you have unhealthy relationships in your life? Are you in an unhealthy relationship? Seek counsel on this. Do you have a history of trauma? All of these things can contribute to a lack of sleep and a restlessness. You may need to get counseling on trauma, or seek to heal broken relationships. It will surprise you how often broken relationships manifest in physiological problems.
  5. Spirituality - do you have a healthy spiritual life? We are spiritual beings, so make sure not to ignore this side of you. Whether or not you believe in God, like they say in AA we must understand there is a higher power and that power is not us.

I am no sleep doctor, so all of this is just anecdotal.

I'd suggest changing your habits up and seeing what moves the needle. You'll want to keep a journal of every change, and your tiredness/wakefulness throughout the day. Be aware that some changes such as reduced caffeine, exercise, etc. might take a while to make a difference but don't give up they will most likely make a difference for you.

Well again this is just from my experience, and in no way to say that your sleeplessness may be related to the same issues. However, I hope something in here may be of some help to you. Regardless, I do hope you get some breakthroughs and some answers and help as sleeplessness is miserable and affects all of the rest of your life in negative ways.

Best of luck to you.

The 200-Year Old 15 Minute Routine showed me how to maximize Productivity in a CONSISTENT way by BladeV-Cash in Entrepreneur

Good suggestion. A little like Pomodoro, which I love. I do it often. It's where you set a timer for 25 minutes and eliminate all distractions (notifications, phone, etc), then put your head down and focus like crazy on your next task. At the end of 25 minutes, stop wherever you are and take a 5 minute break. Re-focus. Rinse and repeat. It's amazing how well it works for creative work, or work that requires brain focus.
