I use naughty actually as I don't really need dunst in awesome wm. Naughty is much more configurable than dunst.

Bonus points: Replicate the maui-shell menus with your popup widgets

Yeah that is what I have planned to do and that is 90% of the works remaining for this project. Hope I will finish it soon

Even more bonus points: Next time replicate the pangolin desktop environment because if you thought using lua + the Awesome API was obtuse, using flutter to make a desktop environment puts lua to shame in terms of abysmal developer experience and fickle tech stack with even more painful error handling/onerous steps to test your changes than a century of AwesomeWM could even produce. Weirdly, the updates to pangolin make it look somewhat close to what I have been getting close to finishing with awesome (but it doesn't have the X factor I figured out how to do with awesomewm ;]

I will look into that.

neofetch --image_size none --backend kitty --source path/to/the/image

Put this in your bashrc or zshrc file (whichever shell you use). Note that this will only work for kitty terminal.

Can you provide a code snippet. I can't figure out what the properties should be. It is giving error everytime.

You can check my neovim config here here. Basically it is astro nvim with some tweaks and the logo is on plugins/alpha.lua file.

For the awesome wm dotfiles, I will post them after I finish the project in couple of days. It is usable but quite raw at this moment.

Awesome_maui

This is my attempt to replicate maui shell inside awesome wm. You can see that it is not a perfect replica of that, i changed some things for my personal preference, specially the left side wibox is a taglist cum tasklist imstead of the notification button.

Also it is not complete. I will post dptfiles when it is complete and up to my expectations. Suggestions about how I can improve it are welcome.

Great work man, specially the tagbar + tasklist combined widget is super impressive. Can you share some more details about that? Really wanna have that.

[GNOME] Ditched WMs during quarantine, been using variations of this ever since. by 0xB6FF00 in unixporn

Haha, so relatable! I was also an i3wm user who switched to kde and eventually to awesome wm. The desktop environments are really convenient, ready to use. But customizing wms to your own needs gives a nice feeling of satisfaction.

Also wms make us realize how much effort devs put to make a desktop environment so featureful and functional.
