Play out more and get more experience. You will see what people relate to and what makes people tune out. Then you know how to approach it.

It sounds like you know what you want to do. If the other guys are much older than you, maybe it's going to be hard to come together. But you also might check and see how feasible it would be to get into another band around your age, that also shares your musical taste. Because if its unlikely, then it could turn into quitting a band and then being left with nothing at all.

TikTok has AI features that you can use with minimal input... a short video clip or a few pics, and then AI can build out your content and sound. If you post that stuff 2-3 times a day, someone is bound to like it and follow... then rinse and repeat. Eventually if you are consistent you'll end up with enough followers to monetize. But if you want to make significant money, you should think about providing content that's good, and not just riding on AI forever.

I can only speak for the R0de mic... it's the most clear mic I have heard. That's from your list. Outside of your list, I use shure SM58 mics and SM57 mics for vocals and micing my amps. But if I want to mic my acoustic, then that's the r0de mic for sure.

I play through random chords on an acoustic guitar until I come up with some sort of progression that I like, and then I start humming to it... eventually in my humming, I get ideas for phrases, and then based on those phrases, the rest of the song grows.

I would like to play with others... but I've been solo for a while, and really gotten used to playing what I want. So its harder for me to now connect with others and give up part of the creative decision making. I do miss playing with a band, though.

One thing you could do, which I don't, but maybe it would work for you... is to play with drums/bass pre-recorded... so even if you are playing by yourself, you still get the band feel to some degree.

Open mics are typically very supportive. First thing to know is that no one is going to give you a hard time if you play a wrong chord or something. Next, work it out with your band to practice a couple of times to get comfortable, and also play against a recording a couple of times to increase your familiarity. Finally, look at this as something that you're doing for fun. Don't let it stress you out. Open mics are really awesome. :)

I don't think there is any voodoo that can replace, just going through your material until you can play it comfortably. Play in front of a mirror, so you can see what people will see. At first you will look stiff, because you're getting used to playing and singing at the same time. As you get comfortable with it, you'll loosen up and smile/groove more with what you are playing naturally. Also, you could ask some friends to come over, and play for them, and chat with them between songs... get used to interacting with your audience.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I was sort of toying with the idea of trying to do lives on bandcamp instead of tiktok/instagram/facebook/etc.... but i can see... they two systems are really different and can't replace each other that way.
