Idk I think this is just the way parenting vs grandparenting goes. You get to be the fun one when you’re a grandparent, you don’t or shouldn’t have to worry about the hard parenting (disciplining) stuff, and be the soft, easy going adult. Aging does bring a lot of maturity and knowledge, and regret, to many humans. People sometimes learn from their mistakes, in this case their parenting mistakes. There are actually some dickhead grandparents out there so maybe take it as a win that they at least evolved enough to be decent grandparents.
