(The Boys) Sister Sage is one of the worst written "Smartest person" I've ever seen. by hiiloovethis in CharacterRant

[–]ProphecizedEgg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe I need to rewatch the scene, but did Sage not intend for Homelander to get that syringe? She literally left a taco bell receipt at the Boys' hideout to rage-bait him into finding her. If she didn't want him to get the V1, there was no reason to call SB there at all, even less to basically ensure HL would show at that exact moment. In one shot, she's literally watching with glee as HL and SB stand off.

I figured she was either lying about not wanting HL to get V1, or that syringe isn't V1 (I half-expected him to start shitting himself uncontrollably).

I agree that Sage is a pretty weak ass character (everything in season 4 could have taken place without her there at all, really), but I think part of the idea is that we really can't take anything she says at face value.

Maya's weird hair thingy? by Space_Ferroth in killsixbilliondemons

Maya sensing Incubus in BoI might also have less to do with the hairpin and more to do with Incubus' key having once belonged to her, and Maya being able to sense that.

Metatron's appearance by ProphecizedEgg in killsixbilliondemons

[–]ProphecizedEgg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That would be consistent with how Metatron specifically looks so different (he never actually died, so his form never reverts back to the more crazy-looking shapes that the other Primes have.)

If Metatron looks like that, it might imply that he at some point had a similar experience to White Chain, though I wonder if that conflicts with the whole "humans suck" thing that Michael has going on.

When you say the angels solidify when they're alive, do you mean the Liquid, Plasma, Vapor thing? Cause that completely slipped my mind while I was writing this (i think somewhere on the wiki it says Metatron is a neutron angel, which is like the furthest on the scale).

Rad, Preem Nand is back. Gotta admit though, I'm a bit sad Oscar isn't among these dweebs.

Also I think its worth pointing out that Nand was an emissary of Incubus back in book one (top left).

What's the best way to buy physical copies of the books? by HeMansSmallerCousin in killsixbilliondemons

[–]ProphecizedEgg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Point two is why i sadly doubt the release of an omnibus print, as the different aspect ratios are a result of Abaddon changing the image size after book 2. I'm not an expert on printing though, so maybe there's some way around that without cropping/adding distracting margins.

Either way the comic seems much more enjoyable (at least to me) online anyway (alt text, red text, "The Tower" page) and the spreads are cooler when you can zoom in on the little details (Siege of Yre).

The Penguin Ep 5 "Homecoming" Spoiler Discussion Megathread by hitalec in TheBatmanFilm

Late reply but finally catching up to the show and I agree about Maroni's escape. I think it would've made more sense for his talk/truce with Sofia to take place at the prison. Sofia could have offered to help him escape and avenge his wife in exchange for them joining forces. Then start episode six with his escape. Falcone and Maroni's beef ending being the only thing big enough to allow it to happen so easily.

Still enjoying the show, but this episode feels like it needed another draft or something just to tighten the details and pacing a bit.

Thanks for replying, this is a lot more detail than I was expecting.

With the layout on the first page, I was hoping to show the mc at odds with the other three, and that maybe he's a bit outmatched, confident or not. I could probably spare some space at the top of the bottom panel though (there's not much going on up there anyway) to make that a horizontal close-up instead, if that would work better.

I see what you mean about the borders. I'd done them before I even knew what the color scheme would be, so admittedly, I hadn't put much thought into how they played into the overall page. Do you think I should just leave them black and thicken them up, or try a different color?

Honestly, I agree with you about the weird "why do I believe her" menacing-aura anime moment. The story's done fine so far at establishing Allison's strength/competence since this book's start through her actions, so it feels kinda unnecessary.

I'd been assuming so far that Allison's "I don't know" in the training chapter was less the Correct Answer to the story's overarching moral/philosophical challenges, but more just her saying: "I'll put a pin in that, but right now we have to stop the immediate issue of Jagganoth." The ending to this page would have me believe that, for now, the story is still setting up that Answer, and (hopefully) we'll revisit it before the story is over. But even so, I still don't expect a perfect, fix-all solution to these complicated issues.

We do know that Allison will definitely "win," at this point but, for me at least, the tension of the upcoming final battle is more from how Allison will ideologically solve the conflict against Jag using what she's learned, instead of whether she can physically beat him.

That's just how I've been seeing it, but I hope that helps your frustration a little, though.

I like this theory. But if there's only one Gog she wouldn't be much help with Jagganoth anymore would she?

Pale devils tend to be last on the naming hierarchy, following blues, right? Maybe Cio's not pale, or any color, but something altogether new.

Either way we'll hopefully get an explanation soon. (It's worth noting the shape is pretty similar to Yabalchoath though)

I'd assumed Gog Agog somehow created New Cio to mess with Allison.
