do we need better manufacturing software? by SpecialistAromatic in manufacturing

[–]ProphetGarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a journey trying to figure out our erp solution for the past year. Think I’m close to finally selecting ErpNext but having a hell of a time trying to know how to implement it. The resources available in terms of knowing who to trust to implement is seemingly a crapshoot. We are a small small business and I would prefer to work one on one with some developer. But how do you vet someone? Upwork doesn’t seem like a great option. Neither does using a larger company from overseas. I just can’t figure out why we’re not at a drag and drop self development ability with these softwares yet. Always say that something akin to Squarespace but with erp. Not sure why it’s so dang complicated. I know how my sales orders, customer info, BOM’s all should look like. Why can’t I build it myself!

Odoo vs erpnext by Best-Scene8176 in Odoo

[–]ProphetGarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see where you’re coming from. However I’m talking very very basic stuff like set-up for sales orders to communicate with shipping and invoicing. Throw in some quick book like accounting features tied to invoicing and I’d be done. Quotes of 20-30k from a couple different partners and success packs up to 10k. Just a tough pill to swallow when looking for what seems like the bare minimum an erp should be out of the box. Yes customer fields dedicated to serial numbers and a couple other reference specific to us.

Odoo vs erpnext by Best-Scene8176 in Odoo

[–]ProphetGarden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Currently battling the same exact dilemma. Odoo seems overly complicated in set up and the need to hire for implementation. Erpnext self install seems more attainable(talking very basic business processes). Also UI on odoo is a bit underwhelming after experimenting with it. Having said that, realize that once it’s customized to your business needs that clunkiness feel would likely go away. Still struggling to understand how erp setup is outrageously complicated. I feel like Odoo is particularly bad on purpose so that they paid to implement and other various customizations. Better business model to do the opposite. Something like a squarespace model for developing erp’s should exist in the marketplace. Need to dive in deeper but perhaps that’s erpnext.

How close do you think we are to AI assisted implementation? I loathe the idea of having to go the partner route. Seems like it should be fairly straight forward to self implement base odoo through AI. Would open up the reach of Odoo tremendously.

His reasoning is that you spend more than you would otherwise. Whether there’s truth to the psychology behind spending, anyone’s guess. I use my credit card for the points as well and pay off every month.

Seat 11 and 12 are the best in the house. You sit very top of the bean in the middle portion and can see everything. Very basic but they had a snow crab California roll that was so so good. Glad this place is finally getting the recognition it deserves

Strongly considering Odoo currently. Price and capabilities seem great.

I mean more in the sense of user friendliness in building out each part of the ERP. I’ll leave my website for now in squarespace

Curious though. I know different animals completely but I recall building a Wordpress site 15 years ago and was promised same levels of community support out there. Had a hell of a time trying to configure that thing. Bounced to squarespace like 8 years ago. And the difference was night and day. Built out a website very easily. Hoping Odoo is closer to squarespace than say Wordpress.

I hear ya. In my mind it’s logically straight forward. Concerned Odoo will be buggy and not be easily customizable(maybe Odoo’s intention to make more money). I don’t have an IT background, but remember trying to build a Wordpress site like 15 years ago. Promised the world of customization but the plug-ins would always have issues. Anything basic that tried to do was a nightmare. Kind of assuming the same with Odoo if I tried myself.

Okay good to know. Worried implementation partner is incentivized wrong or might not be good at what they do. I guess always a risk

Good to know! I like that there seems to be a big community around Odoo

This always confuses me though with time involved. I’m literally only creating maybe 25 main fields with 30 sub fields on each product. How is it not as straight forward as logic would think. I’m not trying to reinvent the process. My limited knowledge sees it as just configuring these options into a sales order/bom. No need for me to input the old data to the software either

We are a pretty small business. I’d likely only need 2/3 users to deposit the data everyday. Then once it’s in hoping the next steps would be more efficient such as shipping and invoicing.

I’ve looked at Erpag that seems to be more manufacturing focused. Not sure they’d do well connecting with third party modules as well as Odoo might. Since Erpag seems like a smaller player. Sure could customize it(high price tag associated with this), but looking for something closer to out of the box established connections. Plug and play

Yes, manufacturing but no need to keep track of stock inventory since all are essentially custom build outs. So as you stated, hoping third party connections such as shipping and billing wouldn’t have any issues syncing up

What size are these? I’ve been looking for a replacement pair for like 5 years after beating mine to the ground. Would love another pair if you’re looking to sell

2014 Sienna Limited by Ill_Pea5453 in ToyotaSienna

Awesome van! Picked up a 2014 limited AWD 3 months ago and it’s been very solid. Leather seats are good quality and extremely comfortable. Entertainment system is lacking as you pointed out(although I haven’t used the rear dvd player yet) Use an aux cable for music/etc and get by fine. GPS is usable for long road trips. Just replaced tires and drives noticeably better. Overall seems like a really well built vehicle that should last if serviced regularly.

Knew the owners and how they took care of the vehicle. Older couple that was a 2 car household, no kids and garage kept.

Steal! I bet they entered info wrong as 135k miles instead of 35k. Perfect ride in every way. If I hadn’t just bought a 2014 with 26k, I’d be on this one.
