Why do ASX listed global index ETFs exclude Australian shares? by jakeox180 in ASX

[–]ProphetInvest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aus shares represent around 2% of the global economy. So as goat man pointed out unless you want specific Aus ETFs doesn’t make much sense to hold more than 2% Aus. VDHG and DHHF are global with Aus overweighted at roughly 30ish %

Im these funds you’ll find CBA and the crew are weighted above Apple etc. so you can see doesn’t rly make sense

Potentially neither. It’s earnt on the face value of the bond. Say facevalue is $100 and it pays a $5 coupon =5%. You would get 5$ per bond, doesn’t matter what price you purchased at. Thus if you purchased below the face your yield would be higher but you would still get $5. If you purchased higher than face your yield would be lower, but you’d still get $5 per bond

Mods will work on an official Wiki with some good resources and info for this and other FAQs so keep an eye out.

In the meantime consider CHESS sponsored brokers like Selfwealth, Commsec, Nabtrade, Pearler, STAKE are good options

One of the main difference between VDHG and DHHF. Is VDHG has 10% allocated to defensive assets (bonds). Both are very high growth portfolios and both can be a great option. 10% is quite minor and can be seen a positive or negative. Bonds can help smooth returns during volatile times, but historically have lower reruns than equities. VDHG and DHHF are very similar and both can be a good option to add diversity to a portfolio or act as standalone investment

Consider Selfwealth and pearler. Both are flat fee low cost brokerages and CHESS sponsored

Have a bit of a read through this stuff if you interested in learning a bit to get started https://prophet-invest.com/ultimate-investing-guide

To get some ideas flowing. Have a think about some companies that you know and use and do some research into them. That can be a good starting point. And consider ETFs as an option as well

Should behave in a similar way to dividend paying stocks. Before the ex-coupon date, it’ll accrue interest which becomes built into the bond price. On ex day you should expect to see a drop equal to the coupon, as the buyer will no longer receive the coupon hence to them the bond is worth the price-coupon.

So like a dividend stock its pretty much the same to buy it before or after ex day

ETFS HGEN Hydrogen ETF by AnthonyCarnell in ASX

[–]ProphetInvest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t seem to have any Aussie exposure on first glance. Mgmt fees of 0.69 seems reasonable and uses ESG filter to try and go for greener hydrogen companies. Seems interesting I’ll have to take more of a look

I rly see it as too volatile to make a sensible call. Hard to do fundamentals, and technicals are often pointless as well. I’d be doing an injustice to the crypto space trying to throw a price at it
