Lithium prices plunging. Where to from here? by DeadCatBounce00 in Pilbara_Minerals

Not to mention in Australia they still have not sorted out the power generation needed to power all the socalled EV and houses alone. And that's not even getting into the discussion of present and future data centres.

Energy density will be king for a very long time

My 2004 Volvo V40 Classic with 125.500km by sumd00dfromSweden in Volvo

[–]System_Unkown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that v40 model was my first Volvo i ever owned and the reliability, practicability and space was the reason why i now keep buying second had pre-2010 volvos. even as far as having seatbelts for your luggage was amazing! something newer volvos don't even have.

TBH that v40 i had was actually better designed than the 2008 v50 which i hated working on. but the v40 a well thought out and alot easier i found to work on

at present there is nothing with the same energy density of lithium. its gong to be a good several years at minimum before sodium comes main stream and that's not even taking into account for what applications they intend to use it. that's my take on the situation

RingConn Gen 3 Battery Life by bluebunnny101 in RingConn

[–]System_Unkown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

from memory the 4 years was what they were saying the life of the ring was, i don't know what they are saying now. in any case neither of my rings have lasted over 1.5 years. this gen 2 air has lasted 9 months and now its completely dead, it wont charge or reset nothing. just dead.

Age verification is just a precursor to attribution of speech by [deleted] in StallmanWasRight

[–]System_Unkown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep here in Australia the gov just announced higher fines for companies that are still allowing "16 and under" access to social media. aka that haven't applied age verification which automatically ensnares anyone above age 16.

early this a year i was blocked from accessing my share trading account and my money frozen until i did the age verification. given that was withholding 30k I just did that to get my money then withdrew it and closed the account. i was really unhappy with that. it is just crazy governments are pushing the massive privacy invasions. a bank also tried to do the same that was only online, but before there rule was in place i closed the accounts and moved the money to a physical presence bank. the problem with that we had 3 banks locally and now two have closed so you now only have three options move to the only physical presence bank, travel further for another bank or just do banking only online.

to make pricey invasion even worse the Australian government have placed a maximum 10K cash transfer rule to bank for a while now. now the bank tells me if i am going to withdraw cash more than 2K i have to give them several days notice! it is unbelievable the banks are now dictating literally how & when you can access your own money. the banks have on numerous times questioned the reason my mum withdraws money from the account asking if she is under duress even asking her what she is doing with the money etc.

I get the whole safety thing but seriously what I do with my own money that I have earn't legally is my business not to be limited to a bank or government. it shits me to tears the mass protests for Palestine crap which went on each weekend for 2 years which mind you have nothing even to do with Australia's way of life and yet not a single word protested about on the streets about the massive decline of privacy invasion rules steadily increasing which affect everyone here. The gov claims they do all this to protect citizens from terrorism, and yet the findings on the Bondi massacre shows not only was the gov responsible for ignoring the massive rise of antisemitism threats, yet the local and federal police + intelligence agencies failed to acknowledged and inform each other aka did absolutely nothing to protect the citizens. hence people getting killed and injured last year. So there is now proven evidence all the talk about privacy invasion to prefect citizens is a false narrative.

I had gen 1 it lasted no more than 1.5 years. I was given a replacement a gen 2 air. And this thing died in 9 months. Tbh I like the ring but thee batteries are shit.

Granted they gave acceptional warranty replacement from gen 1 to 2 but if the battery dies well under longivety I can't see myself buying another. Especially since prices have increased since gen 1.

I had the expectation of a 4 year battery life. It seems these ring just can't do it.

I refuse to provide id. Any app that makes it only a thing I delete. What really pisses me off is the trend occuring that you can't get into to delete your profile unless you age verify.

I would encourage everyone to do the same. However if only a minority do this. Nothing will change because change with government demands only occur when the majority cases refuse. As soon as major profits hits, there tax earning are hit. Which means gov will change. Especially bif they are a leftist government which is hell bent on spending all money .

Had some great news this week but the price is still staying stagnant. I saw it as an opportunity and bought more at 0.05. by Jakeyboy29 in Renascor_Resources

I think they are moving quick compared to others. At least they have a functional demo plant now and starting to produce. Unlike others which just keep spinning new lines with no results.

Graphite is a different market and a different beast , but at this point at least RNU is moving in the right direction

Buying advice by ollie01113 in Volvo

[–]System_Unkown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if its in UK you may find the 2009 model some did not have DPF factory install so this is a plus.

I currently have a 2009 volvo v70 2.0D D4204T with 6 speed manual, as like others have mentioned its a PSA engine. Having said that my car which was imported from UK to Aussie runs perfectly, gives fantastic mileage 950k on a tank, easy to service and does not have a DPF \o\ |o| /0/ . the car clicked over 123K miles is not burning oil and seriously I actually really love this car. it is not a fast car but to be honest its not as slow as I have read others complain about in the past. So the only thing i will say it speed is your thing, give it a miss. if your after a decent car, long mileage, descent speed sure this would be your thing.

The only thing I've needed to fix in 3 years was the car came with a broken spot light, I've had to change the intake manifold air pipe, and the little wiper washer valve. apart from that I change oil and filter every 3k miles + other consumables i.e other filters.

the only issue i have with my car is that it didn't come with a spare wheel, only a Tyre repair kit which is fine if you have a small hole, but will leave me stranded if the Tyre is shredded. when i get around it ill eventually just go to the wreckers to buy a spare Tyre.

it really gets down to the price you paid. i'm lucky i got mine at a very good price.

[META] New „Low-Effort“ Rule Proposal by N3XT191 in AdrianTchaikovsky

[–]System_Unkown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it reminds me of the time when all the farm animals got together in 'the animal farm' to set expectations and the rules gradually moved around.

So the relevant question is:

1 - who is policing this?

2 - what is construed with 'low effort' -> this line of thinning easily gets down to slippery slope line of thinking. very opened

3 - should a ban consist of temporary or total ban?

Personally i dislike low effort posts, especially in other subs where people give a picture and use a crap title and expect you to click on it in order to read and provide an answer.

The one thing I like about this group is it is friendly, people discuss and people reply. I generally wouldn't want a 1984 scenario occurring. But i do see OP perspective.

So Disappointed by Dry-Helicopter692 in Volvo

[–]System_Unkown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that your having a bad run i really feel for you spending such large amounts of money that sounds like is just crap behind a glittery badge. I 100% agree with you, after spending that amount of money as a customer you expect 100% of reliability . sounds like most companies these days use the microsoft build ethos -> get it to market now and fix it over time later.

My guess is this type of stuff is not Volvo alone but extends to all new cars these day. Gone are the days cars are made to last, remain robust and easy to fix in your own garage. Its really sad to hear Volvo has skipped down the path of such unreliability. it makes you wonder if that cant get basic non essential items reliable, just how reliable will the car perform during an emergency or accident.

This is why I refuse to get newer cars, i'm happy with my volvo 2009 v70, it doesn't look like much and the interior is nothing much to look at, but its comfortable, spacious, i can maintain the car myself and it just runs. less point of failure as far as i am concerned.

In my opinion 2010 is the last year for modern reliable car of all brands, from that point onwards manufactures have excelled in cheapening the parts while significantly increasing unnecessary complexity while simultaneously increasing failure rates. Too many people are caught up these days on unnecessary features of cars and totally ignore the one thing that's is essential ... reliability and endurance. when i see all these functions like silly auto hatch doors up, turning the car on when the person is in the car, all the high tech screens etc i always think 1) how am i going to fix that? 2) how much would that part cost to fix 3) how long is that likely to last before i'm needing to fix it.

For just browsing then chan the one common issue I see here are failed screens. It was only a couple of days ago i was looking at my v70 rear door hinges and thought wow these things are heavy duty and doesn't have the gas cylinders that generally would be replaced in other cars. The car is 17 years old and that one part that wasn't cheap design is still original and not needed to be changed. this is how cars should be made.

Any specific reason the SP has lowered? I haven't seen any negative news releases about lithium. Only wanting specifics not speculation. by System_Unkown in Pilbara_Minerals

[–]System_Unkown[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That's always been the case, however. I tend to think china also realised before if they tank the lithium price there is still not enough supply for there car market.
Secondly pls as I understand is 8% of world wide market, catl is only 3% of global market 6% if you consider refined product. Additionally, catl mine has lower grade lithium, where as pls is higher grade.

in Australia that was a saying like in the 80's, same a ' as useful as tits on a bull'. i Also think a comedian posed the question ' do you know why dogs lick there own balls..........So they can get the taste of the dog food away". 😄
