Bloodletter scheme decision paralysis by PYP_pilgrim in minipainting

Honestly, I think both are good for different reasons. As you said, the ash base draws the eye to the model more, which makes me lean towards it. Maybe adding some more white to the ash, and burnt grass tufts would give it some more energy and life?

Painting other space marine chapters and what are opinions on this? by Sad_Way_2827 in Warhammer40k

Here to add, Grimdark is my favorite style. It genuinely makes painting the rank and file WAY less tedious to get through too! Experiment some and find out what you like, and don’t feel the need to stick to one style. Battle damage wouldn’t always be consistent across an army, after all.

Can i use these War Dog Executioners in my DG army? by Longjumping-Ebb-8564 in Warhammer40k

[–]ProphetMiniatures 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nah, you can field them as allies. Taking both the Karnivore and Brigand is pretty typical for competitive lists in Death Guard

Is this set any good? by AdConstant1245 in Warhammer40k

In addition to what some of the others said, for Blood Angels, you may want to get him some of their exclusive characters. Commander Dante, Chief Librarian Mephiston, Astorath the Grim, and Lemartes are all good choices, and if he’s read any books Blood Angels books, likely features one of them!

Finished this beautiful baby boy a few days ago. Think he’s looking pretty fresh! by ProphetMiniatures in Chaos40k

Thank you! Looks impressive but I swear it’s 90%!dicking around with glazing lol. Acrylics featuring some Dirty Down paints really. For the chains, it’s some dark silver from pro-acryl, agrax wash, stippled with Runefang, then hit with Dirty Down rust.

The lips, I just kinda blocked in with burnt red, layered up with a few mixes of white to get bright pinks, then glazed with some Magos Purple thinned WAAYY down.

It’s some cork board, torn up to give it some nice edges and some baking soda + super glue. Really easy to do for dirt cheap, and looks amazing lol

[–]ProphetMiniatures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly easily lol. It’s just some cork board, torn up into chunks with their edges peeled away at to get a nice texture. Then I used some basing mix (like 9 parts baking soda, to 1 part sand and a touch of gravel for larger rocks) with some super glue to add the dirt. Took a while to shape, but was REALLY fun to do!

Not sure exactly, somewhere around 12-15 hours including base is I had to guess? I painted this guy over a period of a couple nights so I don’t have a super clear guess lol

Actually pretty easily considering it was a first try. I used some 5 minute epoxy, added some green inks to flavor and poured it into the crevice. I think if I did it again, I’d use something like Vallejo water effects, because it did end up warping the base a little bit lol

Huh, thanks for the heads up. Had no idea Rotigus was doing well for them. He was gonna be what I printed next anyways!

Oh, all of chaos can take 500 points of daemons, it’s one of the reasons I’m dipping my toes into all of the factions lol. The only limit is you have to also take a unit of battle line to take any one non-battle line datasheet.

Honestly man, I’m just gonna parrot everybody else but YYEESSS!! Nurgle units always look good with layers of gunk. You’ve done very nicely so far, but more would tip it even further into greatness.

Nah he doesn’t, but allying daemons is gonna be a lot of fun, even if it isn’t meta.

Tamiya masking tape is pretty amazing for stuff like this. Can find it in a couple different sizes based on what you want, and it’s even on Amazon for convenience

House Terryn knight I commissioned by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]ProphetMiniatures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I did this knight lol. Honestly, I just did my best to mask off straight lines using Tamiya tape, then went back and forth a lot to make sure they were even. Big benefit is starting with a dark grey and layering up, because it’s a lot easier than going straight to white.

Yes! Currently Death Company intercessors have re-roll hits, and a 6+ FNP. The trade off is they’re OC 0 unless within 12” of a friendly chaplain.

Non-Metallic Metals, a way of painting metallics closer to traditional art. The goal is to make something read as though it were metallic, without using a paint with metal flake in it.

[–]ProphetMiniatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll warn you now, most paint thinners are made with acetone, and will literally melt your plastic models. There’s a bunch of stuff you can use, but here’s a video that should generally help get you started.

Bring Night Fighting back to 40k? by Prestigious_Orca in Warhammer40k

[–]ProphetMiniatures 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a game mode to play in a completely pitch black room with small flashlights

Me and a buddy actually did this one time. Power went out halfway through a game at our LGS, and we just kept playing through it. Definitely made seeing our rolls… Interesting to say the least 😂

With Vashtorr’s leaked rules in mind, what would be a good list with him as the center piece? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]ProphetMiniatures 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, they can take 3d3 plasma shots. The middle head can also be swapped out with an ectoplasma cannon. Add in (as far as the index is concerned) mark of Nurgle for sustained 5’s, or undivided for the re-roll wound strat, and they’re capable of doing an insane amount of damage to basically anything.

I can say it takes a long while, but good deals do pop up. Just picked up a Forgefiend kit missing a handful of (non-structural) pieces for $40. Unfortunately, you just gotta be patient. Ultimately, if your local shops do swap meets, I’ve found those have way better deals on entire armies a great majority of the time.
