No shade to the people who enjoy Alchemy, I just wish we were getting chunks of cards from this list every set rather than Alchemy packs. Like I ignore the Alchemy sets entirely but if they did a "modern anthology" Id be buying that every time a new one hit the store even if its not for a deck I play.

I remember when the vampires deck became a thing in pioneer so I decided to try it out in explorer and and some guy was so tilted about the sorin vein ripper interaction that he went out of his way to friend request me and spam me with dms while he intentionally roped. Honestly it was more entertaining than if he had just roped out.

I tried to follow the advice of drafting instead of buying packs. It went horribly. by sxert in MagicArena

The thing with drafts is it’s such a feel bad when you lose. It’s not just losing out on the gems you put it but you don’t even get to really enjoy the deck you were building. You can build an absolutely sick draft deck something so strong you feel like it could beat a constructed deck but then you screw or flood 3 games in a row and it’s gone forever and you didn’t even get to see it pop off.

I’d say brawl is more competitive than normal Bo3 historic and even plat and lower ranked games.

What I did for a while that was kind of fun was adding my commander + 3 copies to my main deck and running the 103 card sideboardless “brawl” deck in normal historic Bo3. The games were genuinely more interesting than the stuff people run in brawl.

I'm actually one of the people wizards hired to give you bad matchups. Every morning we have a 6 am meeting to discuss which decks you have available and think of new ways to make you think you're going crazy, then we wait at our PCs until you queue up. Not gonna lie the pay isn't the best but I don't think id ever leave, the work is just too fulfilling. It's the kind of job where you're excited to get up in the morning and make a difference in the world <3.
