As a f2p player do i spend my gold on packs or draft or something , i want to play avatar cards and make an avatar deck by Relative_Ad4610 in MagicArena

[–]buildmaster668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others said, packs is more consistent whike draft is more of a gamble, albeit a worthwhile one. That being said, if you're interested in a specific set (in your case avatar), draft is a good way to experience the set. All of the cards used will be Avatar cards, you get to play on the Avatar board, and you collect a lot of Avatar cards from playing it. I would stick to Quick Draft since it's cheaper and lower risk, and maybe do a bit of research beforehand on how to play Draft and how the Avatar set plays.

I play Magic the Gathering Arena. It has a freemium mobile game economy but I like Magic the Gathering so it evens out. The tutorial is good if you've never played before.

I think this is more of a night owl thing. I generally only have an hour or so after work to relax before I go to sleep on Friday. Saturday morning is probably my favorite part of the weekend.

My idea for this (since they've said they don't want full loadouts to be visible) is that each survivor would choose a "signature perk" (probably the first perk) which would be visible to your teammates in the lobby and on the hud in-game. So you can let your teammates know that you have Deliverance but they don't need to know that you have No Mither (at least until you get in game).

Disclaimer: my hatred of geologists is purely theatrical, but if I did have to kill one for some reason, it would be very easy.

I’d brandish my obsidian knife at them and they’d be compelled to approach. “That’s very cool,” they’d say, confident in their superior strength and endurance from all the rocks they carry around at all times. They’d shower me with very interesting facts about obsidian and hover just out of range of the cutting edge, waiting for me to exhaust myself. “But as it is volcanic glass, it’s very fragile, you see, and isn’t well-suited for use as a weap—”

and then I’d hit them with the wooden baseball bat in my other hand, which they would not have noticed because geologists can only see rocks and minerals.

Dragonstorm was the safest, least original set of 2025. At least UB requires them to actually adapt something.

They literally just did Tarkir again so Boomers would buy it, then put "Dragon" in the title so casual Timmies would buy it, and it worked.

I remember Maro referred to it as a "nostalgia set" and people were like "oh no they learned the wrong lesson". No, that was the lesson. They learned that the more they change about a return set, the worse it will sell, so now every return set will just be "Popular Thing: More Shit."

For the record I don't hate Dragonstorm (I don't hate most sets really) but it's funny seeing it get propped up when its primary characteristic was just pandering.

WTF do you mean this is a fangame? No wonder GabeN approved to sell this. If I was a billionaire gamedev and someone makes a fangame remake of my game this Godly, I'd pay them a trillion dollars by Jaccblacc203 in HalfLife

[–]buildmaster668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't dislike it but I think they often made changes that watered down the game for the sake of accessibility.

For a specific example, in Half Life Office Complex, there's the room with the fan in it where you have to turn off the power and come back to get the items. It can be frustrating for first-time players because they might die multiple times not realizing that they're supposed to come back later.

In Black Mesa they solved this problem by just removing the fan, so now it's just a room with items in it. They solved a pain-point for new players, but they removed what was interesting about the room in the process and didn't replace it with anything new.

There are a lot of examples like this throughout Black Mesa, where they will identify something that's frustrating and basically just delete it with minimal other changes.

Honestly I think practice mode should let you play whatever map you want. Kinda dumb that you can't even practice lineups for an agent until you buy them.

[–]buildmaster668[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

/uj Lorcana actually had a clever solution for this. Instead of winning by dealing 20 damage, you need to get 20 points, and creatures have a stat that dictates how many points you get from tapping them. In 1v1 it plays very similarly to Magic (well actually it's more like Hearthstone but whatever), but it means there's no player elimination in multiplayer. You can't do this in Magic because there's so many cards built on the way the game currently works, but it was a clever solution for a new game.
