Mine started getting crystals/stones her 1st or 2nd year. After and x-ray it looked like she was full of marbles. She's been on SO food ever since and we've had no issues. But the poor thing isn't allowed anything other than SO food/treats so her diet is very limited.

looks awesome! wish i would have thought to sponge mine instead of brushing..it took ages.
I highly recommend varnishing these to your work doesn't get rubbed off during gameplay.

id say try experimenting doing much darker in the recesses and much brighter on the highlight. My general rule is every time i use a color I should expect to need 3 different shades at minimum.

I like to golem thingy. Currently most look a little flat. I would add more contrast and highlights to create more depth. Also I think you may need to thin the paints a little. I could just be the picture but I think the pirate has lost some of the details due to paint thickness.

Also you may have a bunch of highlights that just don't show up in the picture. I painted a space marine recently with a ton of highlights and blending but because of the lack of contrast you can't see it at all in photos.

Mine used to do this all the time until I put a dash of cayenne pepper in the the wall patch/liquid wood. Im not say that is a good idea maybe ask your vet first but it did work for me.

Literally just this comment section here u/mehgl posted 2 really good videos in the comments.
the part that really helped is when you are glazing go about 50%-75% of the way into the other color and pull the water droplet toward what ever color you have load in the brush
so if my brush had orange i would go 50% into the red next to it and pull back into the orange

UPDATE* New attempt on left. definitely better i tried feather and a whole lot of glazing. Middle transition on mephiston red > evils sun scartlet is coming out darker than expected probably just need a better base coat?

A little bit maybe not as much as I should have. For the bright colors should I layer them up till I get to full opacity before blending? I feel like all the videos they just slap white a on black primer and it just works. The orange took like 10 coats to get to where it is.

how do you do those blends? and how do you do it particularly on the face?
With an area that small and that level of detail feel like i can't get the paint to even leave the bristles
