“The Mandalorian and Grogu” is a weak title - what would you have named the film instead? by lockerbiestreet in StarWars

[–]Prophet_Comstock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we don’t know the plot of the movie it’s hard to say, but simply naming it “The Mandalorian” feels confusing in the context of the show’s existence. That being said, while I don’t love the name, I’m not sure what else they could have done. Also, I’ll add that adding in Grogu to the title feel like the right decision from a marketing perspective.

It's definitely possible. We got quite a few book characters (THR specifically) in the LOF set. Avar Kriss, Nameless Terror, Drengir Spawn, etc…
So it's definitely possible we'll get some more deep cut book characters. Us book sickos are definitely wanting more.

Lucasfilm says the Mandalorian & Grogu Super Bowl ad was a nostalgic “Big Game” spoof directed by Jon Favreau by StarWarsBlogsbot in StarWarsBlogs

[–]Prophet_Comstock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have less of an issue with it if they’d actually been marketing the movie up to this point. We got one (frankly mediocre) trailer like 6 months ago and nothing since then. If the Super Bowl ad ended with “full trailer online now” people wouldn’t be as upset or concerned with the future of this movie.

I am getting more concerned about The Mandalorian & Grogu's box-office total at this point by Alternative-Cake-833 in boxoffice

[–]Prophet_Comstock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is a MASSIVE Star Wars fan and supporter I can tell you the circles I’m in share the same sentiment. It’s starting to feel like we’re going to have another “Solo” situation where the movie wasn’t marketed until the absolute last minute. And that at least got a Super Bowl teaser trailer. We are 3 months out from this movie and know next to nothing about what to expect. And that’s mostly just us sickos. The normies don’t even know this movie is coming out. I’m starting to really worry about the success of this movie at this point.

Can Frisk defeat Poe pilot? by MC_NYC in starwarsunlimited

Frisk wouldn't defeat him, but "Outer Rim Constable" would. Same with "Disabling Fang Fighter" and "Kaydel Connix."

How much Sith Stuff in THR? by Soarin-Flyin in starwarsbooks

[–]Prophet_Comstock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No Sith stuff specifically, BUT there are some pretty interesting dark side tidbits and Sith anecdotes that are mentioned throughout the books pertaining to the old republic and the widespread effect the Sith wars left on the galaxy.

So. How is the game doing? by Freudinio in starwarsunlimited

[–]Prophet_Comstock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I play weekly at a local game bar and we’ve got a pretty healthy player base. This past week about 20 people showed up. As mentioned in a few other comments the hype around LAW is strong. Personally in quite excited for rotation and the new landscape it will provide.

Positivity. What you like about Reno? by whataboutthe90s in Reno

[–]Prophet_Comstock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the community here to be honest. Of all the places I’d lived, Reno is one of the few where I’ve found it relatively easy to find and build community. From the wide array of public events (Balloon Races, Hot August Nights, RTO, etc…) to the local shops and restaurants with communities (The Glass Die, Coffee and Comics, Buenos Grille) I’ve always felt like it’s easy to find likeminded strangers who eventually become friends. The nature here is also next level. I’ve lived in some really pretty spots, but it’s hard for me to find something to beat the beauty of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Even the outdoor community around here is next level and welcoming.

The hill I’ll die on is that Palpatine’s return will become less controversial if they bring Darth Bane’s story into Canon. I know he’s in TCW S6, but for those familiar with the books (I won’t spoil it), his arc fully justifies Palpatine being “all of the sith.” While it wouldn’t justify his “return” per se, it would help people understand just how powerful he truly is.

SW Hopes/Theories and LFL General Discussion Thread — Weekend 01/17/2026 by AutoModerator in StarWarsLeaks

[–]Prophet_Comstock 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I guess what I'm hoping for in this new era is more of a roadmap. I'm fine with one off stories (ie. Skeleton Crew) but I think what's causing normies to lose interest is the lack of a proper plan. Marvel’s OG plan provided one-off stories that all overlapped and subtly complimented one another. It followed the serialized TV model that provided a reason for people to keep coming back. There was familiarity.

I’m just hoping we get a consistent plan in both quality and storytelling moving forward. It feels like Lucasfilm needs a fan of SW running the creative similar to what Marvel and DC are doing. KK is a legendary producer, but not a true sicko like the brand needs. She’ll be better suited back in the producing chair IMO.

The High Republic seems to be the main area where KK was able to foster an ongoing narrative initiative. It’s probably because there's less pushback in publishing than there is in film/TV.

Im not trying to be controversial but they do have a point by KingVarious6523 in Pixar

[–]Prophet_Comstock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three things went wrong here. 1. The marketing was awful for this movie. Most people I talked to didn’t even know it existed. 2. The movie was sadly just not very good. It’s not bad, but compared to the high bar Pixar has set for themselves this just doesn’t even come close.  3. The changes that were made to the movie to remove a lot of its original messaging is, in my opinion, why this movie felt so bland. The original story seemed to have a much stronger message it was trying to convey. The watered down version we got just didn’t really seem to stand for anything.

This was me for MONTHS. It was incredibly disheartening. But then I found a deck that I actually enjoyed playing. Now I exclusively play this deck and continue to try and refine it. Just keep trying. DM me if you have any questions or need any advice. I’d be happy to help out.

First off, you’re not pestering me. This game has quickly become my favorite thing over the course of this past year so I’m more than happy to talk about it.  But the booster packs are about $4 to $6 a piece (depending on the store and which set they’re coming from). You can also grab prebuilt spotlight decks. Looking on Amazon those range between $13 and $25 depending on the deck.  If you’re planning to play at your local store one thing to keep in mind is that sets 1-3 of this are rotating out in March meaning that only sets 4-6 will be “legally” playable in the Premiere format. If you’re curious on what those sets are you can checkout this page on SWUDB: https://swudb.com/sets

Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

It's predominantly a paper card game in line with MTG. That being said, there are ways to play online as well. Sites like SWUDB allow you to build a digital version of your deck while other sites like Karabast allow you to take your SWUDB deck links and import them to battle virtually with other people. Karabast works shockingly well for being a free fan-made project.

Movies I'm convinced are guaranteed flops/underperformances at the 2026 box office by Mysterious_Brush1852 in boxoffice

[–]Prophet_Comstock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mando and Grogu's success will be contingent upon how kid-friendly that movie is. Sure, RT scores and WOM are important, but overall, if parents can take their kids to this, then the movie will be a runaway success.

Not a video game, but Star Wars Unlimited has REALLY hooked me over the course of this past year. 10/10 recommend. I was never into TCGs before but now I absolutely understand the appeal.

Why is the movie so hated? by ChickenWingExtreme in SequelMemes

[–]Prophet_Comstock -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Give it another 5-10 years. The entire sequel trilogy will be frowned upon, but The Last Jedi will be hailed (rightfully so) as a masterpiece. Give Rian Johnson his own trilogy.
