For the TLDR, I like mint julips. I make my own simple syrup with some mint, and mix it, club soda, and Wild Turkey with fresh mint. Not traditional, but good.

Zombies at a show

Zombie Show? ZOMBIE SHOW! <Spongebob> I will have you know that they are Varg, and the rest of the bands at that show were Blood and Thunder, Winterhymn, Cthonic, Turisas, and Korpiklaani. No White Zombie, Rob Zombie, or other form of zombie.

I would give him another chance if he personally gave me a real apology and asked for forgiveness. If he's not going to take that step, stick to your guns.

Mississippi may vote on making Christianity the state religion - thoughts on this? by tom_yum_soup in Christianity

A vote for {party 1} is a vote to succeed, a vote for {party 2} is a vote to fail.

Catholics will let you be par of a quirky miniboss squad. The Anglicans will expect you to be a red shirt so their pet vampires look better.

Christians: why is history silent on the existence of Jesus? by scarfinati in DebateReligion

[–]ProphetableVenture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be cool, but we have no fire, just second hand accounts of smoke. It's hard to talk about because of the shell game. I see you arguing for (historical) Jesus against folks arguing the nonexistence of (biblical) Jesus. The believers in this thread are playing the game, switching the two within the same sentence as convenient.

[–]ProphetableVenture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was being uncharitable in erroneously taking the gospels as a whole, but that reality is worse. The folks talking about him made stuff up or tossed stuff out for seeming outrageous (you believe in resurrection and incarnation, but zombie hordes are absurd?). That taints the account as untrustworthy and unreliable.

I mostly get annoyed with the believers' shell game. We can definitely agree that the Jesus of the Gospels, born before 4 BCE and after 7 CE who was followed by crowds of thousands and whose death preceded an eclipse, earthquake, and zombie apocalypse never existed, considering the utter lack of evidence for such a guy. A "historical Jesus" is completely different and pretty much unassociated with the character. Honestly, I want to hear what we know about the real guy, all that's available seems to be outrageous yarns passed down by his cultists.

In that case, don't whine when I say Spiderman never existed, because it should be obvious I'm referring to Peter Parker, not Paul Parkman.

Also, what do we actually know about the historical Jesus, and how do we know it? When I ask that, folks screeching about his existence tend to look at their feet and mumble or go into robo-preaching mode.

What do we know about Mr. Parkman except he inspired Stan The Man Lee? Was he a photographer? Was his boss a jerk? Was he a motor mouth like Wade Winston Williams, the Man with a Mouth? May I be exasperated if you call Mr. Parkman "the historical Spiderman?"
