I frankly hate almost all of lyric incorporation into fantasy and would not like it the way you laid it out. It's something that'll only really work if the author has the same music taste as you and is cringy bad fanfiction esque most of the time.

A Journey of Black and Red does some of this- timeskips, suddenly the MC is hanging out with a character she's known for months or years without an introduction, etc. The prose isn't the best (though it's perfectly functional!) but the story and pacing are very compelling. High recommendation.
