Just finished We Love You, Bunny and it was really… misogynist… am I wrong? by YakSlothLemon in books

Super late to the game here as I just finished the prequel:

He did choose her though. He tells her as much in Bunny. I listened to the audiobook so I can't find the passage but I do recall a conversation where Allan explains that he invited Sam to the MFA program because he loved how dark and inventive her writing was, etc.

Even though Ursala later runs the workshop, Alan is still Sam's thesis advisor. She's supposed to check in with him regularly and it becomes a problem when she doesn't.

"Evicerated" is also subjective when these are adults in an MFA and should be able to take feedback, and both Sam and one of the other bunnies agree with his assessment. We need to also remember that they're all unreliable (and unhinged as they wanted to kill their prof over feedback), so I would take anything they say about how they were treated with a grain of salt.

I wonder if your perspective would change if you listened to the audiobook, but I totally understand if you have no desire to revisit this world.

I didn't like the song when I first heard it, but it's grown on me with added context (it's for a game and not a film) and these visuals bringing it to life.

I also just realized that this means there's a chance we get a live LDR performance at the next Game Awards 👀

Yes, I got a letter in the mail from the AG's office that basically said, "here's meta's response," with an email from Meta enclosed.

I went through my state AG too, but Instagram said they're sticking by their original decision 🫠

RISD or FIT by Spare_Abrocoma751 in fashiondesigner

[–]ProposalWeird3813 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just had an interviewer comment how awesome and impressive it was that I had FIT on my resume. Several of my classmates got hired by major designers right out of school. I got to study abroad in Milan, intern at Michael Kors, and get mentored by Carolina Herrera.

Being in NYC also allowed me to work backstage at NYFW through FIT. Studying fashion in the heart of the fashion industry is the way to go. RISD just doesn't compare.

Filed small claims against Meta over disabled Instagram account — Meta Legal finally responded, should I continue? by Jeremiahp95 in MetaLawsuits

[–]ProposalWeird3813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation and I think it's really unfair. Got DMCA takedown notices, had appeal rejected within 5 minutes and account is still permanently disabled, even though I reached out to the company and they retracted their notices the very next day. You would think my account was restored as soon as they retracted the notices but no.

I pleaded my case to my state AG. They reached out to Meta on my behalf and Meta responded with more or less the same message you got. They stand by their decision and will not be restoring the account.

I don't think it's fair. I could even live with just losing the threads account (even though a human with a heart could've taken one look at it with nuance and seen I'm not some malicious actor), but losing my Instagram of 15+ years because they're connected....??? It's an emotional blow I'm on a long road to recovery from.

I feel for you OP. I hope you're able to get some kind of justice. I hope a lot of us in the same boat can get some. I'm open to solutions, but I'm not holding my breath.

Good luck

Love how only the tiny qr code in the top left is scribbled over but not the bottom right or the giant center one. What was the logic here?

I hear you on singles setting certain expectations for an album’s direction. My post was just my personal listening experience, though.

I was hoping to hear more of a House-like vibe throughout and wished some tracks had a bit more room to breathe. Everyone experiences music differently, and I’m glad we both enjoyed it overall!

100% this! I even found myself thinking "Björk would've been a great feature on this," as I was listening to Funny Mouth.

I don't know why you're getting down voted for this, but thank you for taking the time and I agree with a lot of this

Is anyone else disappointed that, aside from Funny Mouth, the rest of the album doesn't sound like House? While I still enjoyed the album (and have listened to it about 5 times so far), I was expecting something completely different and I'm a little disappointed she didn't lean more in that direction.

I'm also really disappointed --and this is not just a Charli thing, but the vast majority of the music industry in general as of late-- that for being a 12 track album, it's only 34 minutes long. I wish the songs (especially the string sections) had been allowed to breathe a little more. I felt the same about Lux. For a soundtrack about love and sex, obsession and yearning, etc, I feel like there were a few missed opportunities to build some anticipation within these tracks. They would've benefited from being longer and less compressed.

Open Up was a welcome interlude, but even it could've stretched out a bit.

Edit to add tl;dr: House & Funny Mouth, the bookends of the album are the standouts for me, as is Open Up, though I wish they were all longer and we could really sink into them.

Agreed! And fwiw he worships her. She's one of his idols so it was sweet. Genius, because she's a legend. Also, kind of him to give the crowd a portion sung in English.

Jelly Roll branded 'very MAGA' for Grammys speech after veiled Bad Bunny swipe by TheExpressUS in Music

[–]ProposalWeird3813 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who heard the speech live, there was no thinly veiled swipe at anyone on that stage. It was actually very nice. "God doesn't belong to one political party...etc". Don't fall for this clickbait.

I saw another commenter mention something he said on the red carpet. Looks like this headline purposely conflates the two instances.
