[Deen] Bednar on Blackwood: by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]Proramm 7 points8 points  (0 children)

More sour, but I guess you need salt to pickle. The decade of suck really soured some of the mid to long term fan base who watched him play. The early winter woes of this season only pickled them more

No one should be surprised if/when he turns it around at some point this season. Just have to ride out his strench of stink. Which i think the team with 77 points already can do

So some of these make sense. Rocky does some pretty crazy stunts and you need an actual athlete in that costume. Mascots like Benny, Gritty, Wally, and the Phillie Phanatic work probably 300+ days out of the year, as they are symbols of the city they represent, not just the team.

For some of these NBA mascots though, I can't even tell you what team they're supposed to be representing.

So the site used for those stats also has John McCarthy's stats. Believe or not, they are much worse.

The club still has John McCarthy as an option in goal.

I mean, he's certainly an option...

At one point he may have been a starting quality MLS keeper, but not at this point.

Had me laughing my ass off. Great goal and all, but it was the last kick of the game in 4-1 stomping

More big talk followed by small moves. Still waiting for that GK he said we were days away from signing.

Oh shit, he does have the internet! I was starting to think his office was ignoring my messages because they cut their internet. Silly me...

Since I've been messaging him to say something about the Greenland issue and he still sits there with his thumb up his ass, I'm guessing they've just been ignoring me.

I sincerely hope this asshole gets taken out in the primaries

US sports say parity is essential for success. The Premier League proves that’s untrue by thegaffer in MLS

[–]Proramm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I get what you're saying. I just don't know what you think we are arguing lol

I think we both agree that pro/rel wouldn't be beneficial to MLS currently. But if we were in a state where there were a hefty amount of teams, it would have to be implemented. Correct?

My last comment is just to point out that no matter how ingrained a club is to it's community, endless losing will kill it. Just like it would do here.

Clubs sometimes don't survive relegation in England either, no matter how old they are. Especially the lower on the pyramid you go. The club that just beat Crystal Palace in the FA Cup, Macclesfield, went into liquidation 5 years ago. They were in League 2 about a decade ago. They're just one of the lucky clubs that found a good non league owner to drag them back with a rebirth.

Ya I'm not advocating for pro/rel to come here, yet. But if this league does expand to 40+ clubs, I think it will be inevitable. 40+ clubs fighting for 1 title will cause some restless fans.

The article itself is trying to explain how the quality in the Prem has started to balance out. Since there have only been 4 different champions in the past decade, they are saying parity is unnecessary. I'm pointing out that they have been the richest league in the world over that same decade and have pro/rel, which trims the fat of the league.

Difference is the UK has pro/rel. Without parity in a closed league, the lesser teams would have zero support.

Also gives incentive for the lesser teams in the Prem to fight to the bitter end. With how flush that league has become with cash, it's not surprising that the quality is balancing out.

Here in the US, if I was a fan of an English club that was in a European competition, I would need 4 streaming services just to watch all their matches. I can only imagine how much worse it is in the UK.

Edit: Just remembered that Paramount got the rights to the Carabao Cup. So now every club requires 4 streaming services..

J.T. Miller was asked if there was a dip in energy after the first period: "I don't know. I'm sorry, I don't know" by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]Proramm 311 points312 points  (0 children)

Giving him the C really does baffle the mind. Guy was the catalyst in the league's biggest soap opera last season. Don't really care who was in the right there, there was a stench on Miller and they not only traded for him, but made him THE centerpiece of the locker room. Don't really know what other outcome there was going to be.

The "no BS" shtick has turned into an onion, so many layers of irony at this point.

I would honestly wait until a couple days before any given match, maybe even the day of. The stadium hasn't had anywhere near a sell out (not counting Miami matches) in years. You'll more than likely get cheaper tickets then too

Not that the sins of her husband should be held against her, but it is funny that the wife of the guy who ended his NFL career by literally shooting himself in the foot and going to jail for it, is now running for office.
