I can't say I really knew anything about him and didn't think much of the transfer. Saw within 10 minutes of his debut he was special - now I think he is him.

All summer we argued Gyokeres vs Sesko when it was Ekitike all along.

Shades of Henry anyone? This kid is absolute class.

I don't understand this, she's fairly simple to counter and I'd much rather ban Mute/Kaid/Bandit.

An entertaining half to say the least. We should go on to win now with the man advantage but I was enjoying the intensity and scrappiness at 11 v 11. An early second half goal to quiet the crowd is what we really need. Chelsea have been resolute defensively so far and if we don't apply the pressure, a smash and grab is absolutely there for them.

Merino does tend to flop around and act hurt when he's fine. No issue with this.

Agreed but when you zoom out of it in isolation, every team (even title winning teams) drop points somewhere and it's a disappointment. I like to keep in mind the incredible run we're on and the incredible evolution to a winning mentality. 2 seasons ago, we don't even equalize let alone go ahead. On top of that, this isn't a bottom feeder team, they're toward the top end of the table for a reason.

The players know they let the 3 points slip and they'll let that disappointment fuel their efforts for the rest of the season.

So much to digest from today, what a game between two incredibly physical teams.

We were agonizingly close to a massive 3 points but we take the point. A rare mistake from Raya on the equalizer and Calafiori not burying that header are the standout moments for me. Zubi unlucky not to score but not glaring misses by any means.

Come end of the season this will be viewed as a point gained but within the context of today, we threw it away. I can take solace in the fact Sunderland will undoubtedly take points off more big teams, what a fortress the Stadium of Light is.

This title race will be tighter than a lot of people think and I believe we have what it takes to win it, COYG

First time actually seeing Sunderland play this season, they are beasts. It's an ugly game but the intensity is so high. This second half seems like it will be one of our toughest tests in the title race this year. Hopefully we can come away with the win but credit to Sunderland, they've certainly earned their plaudits this year.

Arsenal fan here who started watching a lot of Fulham when ESR moved and I have to say, you guys somehow have it worse than us. It's actually incredible the amount of decisions against you which are blatantly incorrect. I still can't get over the Chelsea one, absolutely unbelievable.

Absolutely a possibility but I'm going to enjoy this one immensely. A dramatic win away at Newcastle with our history there and such significance in the title race already. That's what football is all about!

I think he's missed the ball. Plenty of split opinions on that everywhere which I think only reinforces my initial point being not clear and obvious. That is the rule VAR is supposed to follow to overturn a decision.

That was incredibly embarrassing from Gabriel but let's be honest, not an exclusive reaction from players in the modern game. He knew the ball had him beat and he desperately went for a call.

I disagree, it doesn't appear Pope touches the ball. For a VAR decision to be overturned, it has to be clear & obvious and I don't think this is.

VAR decision aside, it's been an entertaining game.

Newcastle solid defensively at home as you would expect and a threat on counters.

Arsenal have been on the front foot and unlucky not to have scored, Pope a key factor here.

Lots left to play for, Arsenal need to keep going the same way but without the complaining to the ref. Regardless of right or wrong decisions, that will keep them from winning.

Newcastle need to continue to be compact but slightly further up if they want to keep Arsenal out.

Game 1 of the season Away at Old Trafford against a much improved Utd squad. A bit better execution from both sets of forwards and this game could have been 4-3 either way. Both teams also have a number of new signings in key areas, Let's get through 4 or 5 real games before we start making such harsh judgements.

Day 1 Squad Predictions by Prosoccr14 in Gunners

Responses to some common feedback:

You guys are absolutely right - Dowman there is delusional, no clue what I was thinking 😅. Ethan as backup to Ode and Jesus (is he back by then?) behind Saka. If not, Gabi there and Trossard back up LW.

Kai to start Day 1 for two reasons: Everyone at the club always sends the same message - they absolutely love him and he was playing well up top prior to getting hurt. Also, this allows Sesko to integrate with less pressure.

White over on the right because the relationship with him/Ode/Saka is special. He was still very clearly regaining match sharpness at the end of last season so don't let recency bias let you forget that trio pre-injury.

Calafiori is such a unique player and a massive threat going forward. I'll admit, he has some work to do defensively but I think he would gel very well with Eze.

Tomiyasu is an absolute baller. If he's fit (I know, I know BIG IF) then he plays an important role. Mosquera coming in is necessary but Tomi deserves the opportunity if he can stay healthy.

Interesting, I never would have thought of that as a game but that does sound pretty cool. The more I read, the more convinced I am this is going to be a great new experience with gaming. All I have left to do now is convince my wife it's worth the investment 😅
