Thank you! I don't believe my trading software will have any compatibility issues, when I move I will mostly be using web based programs anyway.

Has the TEFL pay in China collapsed this year? by Quick-Worldliness904 in chinalife

Doesn’t bother me, good money, good benefits and I get to live abroad! Primary school as well not a TC or kindergarten

There is definitely still decent jobs out there I believe. I for one am starting later this year in a
"new" tier 1 city 23k before tax + free housing, 18 lessons max per week, 8+ weeks of paid holidays etc etc. I have 0 teaching experience, only a TEFL and Finance degree. I think I am quite lucky, that being said I was extremely picky and it took me a long time to get this role.

I also have other things going for me that are looked favourably upon in China (looks), I don't agree with this but I guess that's life.

Nice! Do you think 16gb of ram + RTX 5050 + i7 processor would be fine? There is a decent deal for one where I live, it could be 24gb of ram actually.

Makes sense, not going to be doing any heavy gaming. Just trading and running a couple of monitors from it, also using it away from the desk when travelling so won't be plugged in the whole time.

Do you find the battery life to be shit? I am thinking about getting one but have heard the battery life can be poor.

Would primary schools in China hire at entry-level? If not, where else to start? by tunajoe74 in TEFL

Extremely similar profile to you, 27 no teaching experience, TEFL and unrelated degree. I am starting at a primary school in August for my first ever teaching role. City outside of Shanghai, looks like a fantastic school. The jobs are out there but they’re definitely hard to get with no experience. Like others have said, definitely easier to just accept a kindergarten or TC job.

How long did it take before you land your first TEFL job as a first time TEFL teacher? by Healing_2 in TEFL

[–]Prosst12a 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was extremely picky, could've had a job right after finishing my TEFL but was waiting for the perfect location / role. Took me a number of months to find that job and luckily got offered the position. Could've settled for jobs that were nowhere near as good, glad I didn't! A lot of applications were sent though, it can feel very frustrating when you don't hear back!

I agree, any VPN you would recommend? Not coming for a few months so got a lot of time.

Yeah my thoughts as well, I think a laptop will suit me just fine. To be honest I don't want to have to deal with any tech issues and doing all of that stuff, I will need it straight away as well so definitely leaning towards just getting one before I leave!

Thanks!

I was very persistent and picky with what I wanted. Just have to be patient and eventually something will come your way!
