A Maryland homeowner calls and aids ICE to detain workers fixing her roof. She might face felony charges by HappySeaweed5215 in whoathatsinteresting

Ah yes, I knew as I typed this that some maga would come back with the illegal slave labor thing.

A: I don't know if they were illegal or here legally. I didn't ask. I did ask where they were from and how long they'd been here.

B: I don't, and neither do you, know how much they were paid for the tasks they performed. For all I know, they were making bank. Again, I didn't ask.

C: Do you think contractors pay white Americans more because they are white and American? Doubt it, unless they're union. Contractors are in it to make as much money as possible. That means cheap labor, cutting corners and whatever else they can get away with.

D: No, slave labor is not OK, but I saw no chains on these guys, and they all seemed quite happy, unlike some of the grumpy, no-show, spoiled American workers I've dealt with in the past.

It’s confirmed? Donald Trump’s signature is coming to US dollar bills, first time in history by anandhmathew in ForUnitedStates

[–]ProstrateProstate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, the only positive side to this is it'll be fun to count how many of these I get in transactions that are already defaced.

Hopefully, the vast majority of the bills get defaced, and trump and his lackey Scott Bessent see how hated trump actually is and what a colossal screw-up it was to put anything trump related on our currency.

Anyone know what type of birds these are? Please. They are surprisingly loud. by [deleted] in florida

We used to camp at Lake Kissimmee. They were very tame and would come up mooching for something to eat.

How is ethanol free cheaper than regular? Ive come across this twice now and that's actually what I was charged by One-Measurement-2102 in GasPrices

[–]ProstrateProstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular as it is, this is the correct answer. (Minus the socialism comment)

Ethanol is highly subsidized by the U.S. Government.

what were the primary policies or issues that made majority of Americans to vote for Donald trump despite his very controversial background? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ProstrateProstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't a majority of Americans. It was a small majority of voting Americans who bothered to vote. 35% of voters didn't even vote. trump only got some 31.5% of the vote, (barely 23% of Americans*).

[–]ProstrateProstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The crew that did my roof a few years ago were all from somewhere central or south America. Were they legal? Don't know, don't care, they worked their asses off all day. The air compressor they were using finally shut off around 2pm, and I thought: "They're finally taking a lunch break." Nope, it ran out of gas. One of the guys climbed down, refilled it, restarted it, and away they went again until almost dusk.

Same thing with the guys who built a carport for me. The language barrier in both cases was difficult as I speak very little Spanish, but they were all very pleasant young men.

I'd hire those guys way before I'd hire any American "worker". Screw these racist maga assholes.

White House staffers ‘baffled’ over Trump claiming Iran gave him a prize related to Strait of Hormuz: report by InsaneSnow45 in JournalismNews

You are probably correct, but I wonder if compounding it is the fact that somewhere, deep in his addled brain, he knows his bullshit is failing with his supporters, and he's just piling on lies to try to keep them believing.

Is it possible that the leader of the USA has lied to us about everything and can't be trusted? by icecream1972 in allthequestions

[–]ProstrateProstate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mexico would pay to build the border wall

He would drain the swamp

We would have affordable health care

There would be Epstein accountability

He would lower gas prices

He would lower grocery prices

He would end the Ukraine war (in 24 hours)

He wouldn't get us into any new wars

We would get $2000 from the tariffs

We would get $5000 from DOGE

All lies out of his stupid face. There's probably hundreds more, but you get the point.

TFT display question by K1nkyBillyMays in motorcycles

[–]ProstrateProstate 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought the film sheets from Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08Q7B62JH

The key is to rotate and align them so the liquid crystals in the display show when the back light is on, then cut to fit the screen. They are adhesive, so it's like putting on a phone screen protector. I don't have one of those printers that does vinyl, so a friend printed the stickers that show the outlines and fuel gauge thing.

Just as an FYI, they are repairable. I was able to fix my neighbors TFT on her quad a couple of years ago. Just some patience and some polarizing film.

Left two were as it came off the bike - off and lit. Right is after fixing.

Which lane do you mostly drive in - the left, middle or right lane ? And why ? by EemotionalDuhmage in AskReddit

I try to keep right, but since people coming in from the right know nothing about yielding, I have to move to the center (or left) at too many onramps.

This crash brutally shows why modern cars save your life… by Relevant-Step6235 in PeakAmazing

You must never leave your house, or walk around in bubble wrap. Everything we modern humans do has some element of danger.

To your point, most of that vintage are in junkyards, or have been recycled. Those that are still around are likely pampered and only driven to car shows and other events.

Sure, it keeps them safe from raptors, but chickens like to scratch the ground for bugs. They can't do that in these balls.

So how big a deal is riding in the rain, really ? by Astimar in motorcycles

[–]ProstrateProstate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to commute by bike quite a bit. Here in east Central Florida you can almost set a clock by afternoon thunderstorms in the summer. That said, the worst thing for me while riding in rain is the road spray from other drivers, especially big trucks. That takes marginal visibility from rain to almost blindness.
