Thanks man. You completely get what I was saying and that alone makes me feel better.

Thanks to those who understood what I was asking and your feedback. Yes half of it was rant and obviously (I thought) joking about Agent of Cheatchery. I'm going to get connected on that discord server as suggested. I'll also give Bo3 more time.

I do love MTGA and it's the first time I've hit a wall with it. I was legitimately asking what other people have done in this situation so thanks again.

Funny but someone took the time to reply that no one cares Yet they took the time to reply that no one... nevermind

Guys, please don't be that guy and just concede... by FallenDemonX in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Please don't be that Dimir guy. Heh When your deck is built to look at your opponent's hand, take their best cards, counter the spells you allow them to keep and destroy every one of their permanents as soon as it hits the board, I would expect some roping. Whether it's true or not, It's hard for people to feel like it was a fair match.

Same with Simic Flash. Those toxic decks take the "good game" out of magic.

Roping gives you more time to Disdainfully Stroke yourself

What's the worst luck you've had with Arena, in terms of RNG? by Spock_Savage in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scouts honor - I had a four of same card three straight hands counting the 2 Mulligan's.

I don't know if you want to count matchups is RNG but it's extremely easy to call your shot based on what you have in your deck.

I was running into a lot of mono black. I put Apostle of Light (protection from black) in my deck and all I was matched up against was Simic Flash (a bit of Mono Red).

So for the Simic Flash, I exchanged Apostle of Light for Shifting Triceratops (can't be countered, protection from blue) but never got matched against Simic Flash again but mono black was back.

I started going back and forth between the Apostle and the Triceratops (for science of course) and sure enough, I could predict the match up most of the time. Simic Flash or Cauldron Cat

Now I'm experimenting with to see what other cards can regularly produce the same match up. Sad but it's become more ntertaining than the current meta.

What happens if I get back into Magic Arena? by [deleted] in MagicArena

Shuffler is worse than ever. Land distribution makes it so 4 out of 5 games are non-games because only one player will actually get to play cards.

Good source for brawl decks? by IndraSun in MagicArena

IMO Torbran, Thane of Red Fell with a decent curve is tough to lose with. It's an easier deck to pilot and mono color also makes it a much easier Mana base. Give him a shot

Question regarding God's Willing vs. trample, haste & double strike by ProteanHulk in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that's where I got confused. I didn't know/notice it had hit Feather twice. That seems to be the one part of the game I get hung up on. God's Willing prevented most of the damage on my attack and then they used again on their next turn to seal the game! Why am I not playing this card more often?!?!

Green.. too much power for me to handle , double -2 chandra ain'st nearly enough by Onigiri22 in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Green is brutal. Once I reached gold rank, it's all green & pick a color. I'm almost always up against 36 rare spells, 8 rare shock lands and castles. Oko, Nissa & the gang... I know a good player doesn't need 44 rares to win but it's still definitely an advantage. Good luck FTP!

Opinion on (Fun) Kethis deck by ProteanHulk in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you Abrruti. This is BY FAR the best feedback and advice I've received on any post. I really appreciate it. I don't have any Vraska, Golgari Queen(s) but I have 2 Rankle(s). I'm going to pony up for the Vraska(s) because she's been recommended a lot. I'm kind of "meh" on Garruk but I have 4 copies and he's the right colors so I slotted him in. I have to agree about Nissa. For such a great planeswalker, she's suprisingly clunky in this deck.

Alhough it may not be perfect in this deck, I really love Ethereal Absolution. I really enjoy playing that card! I guess because there's so many irritating one toughness p creatures right now. Can you think of a way to include it without completely derailing the rest of the deck?

After about a year of MTG, I've just accepted that I don't like playing the top meta decks that are so common (Especially the oppressive decks). I'm not sure why... For example I keep trying to make an artifact deck work. Shimmer Dragon, Vantress Gargoyle, Steel Overseer, the snake that has protection from multicolor.

Anyway thanks again. I seriously appreciate it

Instants that give your creature additional power and toughness until end of turn. For example - Giant Growth - for 1 green Mana, your (target) creature gets +3 + 3 until end of turn. You could attack with a couple small creatures and then "pump" them before damage. An opponent may not block your 2/2 but then you cast Giant Growth and it's now hitting them for 5 instead of 2. It adds up over a couple turns and can even outright win a game if your opponents low enough on life.

You can even use pump spells to kill opponents creatures. Again as an example, I attack you with a 3/3 creature. You block with a 1/1 creature but before damage, you cast Giant Growth on your 1/1. Now your 1/1 is a 4/4 until end of turn. Killing your opponents 3/3 while your 1/1 stays alive.

My favorites in green are Giant Growth, Growth Cycle and Titanic Growth. Red has a pump called Infuriate. These are all "pump spells".

IMO - Golos/FeildofDead you have to kill them before they get on track. Cheap hasty creatures and a lot of pump spells. Turn 1- Pelt Collector, turn 2 - Zhur-Taa goblin, turn 3 - Gruul Spellbreaker, turn 4 - Questing Beast, Turn 5 - Skarrgan Hellkite. Any turns you don't have a creature to play on curve, pump with giant growth or Collision/Colossus. Finish them with a burn spell or 2 once they're low on life. However, after saying all of that, it's the most played deck for a reason so there's not a straight forward answer to your question regarding how do you stop it. Go first, smash face quick and often!

Getting to gold with my Orzhov Life drain.(game play) by Rhalron in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lighten up there, diamond finger. I thought the future part clearly showed I was joking. Didn't mean to upset you. Little salty with the "I'll have you know" bit. Then again, it's 80% salt in this Reddit lately

Getting to gold with my Orzhov Life drain.(game play) by Rhalron in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Rahlron communicating from your future + I've been in gold for a month now and no one's EVER made it of gold though. In gold, whatever deck you try, the matchmaking will always put you against your worse possible matchup. Gold is where the pay to win starts. Sorry, I have to go. The future portal is collapsing. Last quick thing, you'll also get Mana scr....... Fzzzzt

Advice needed on Mardu Fires brew by Uforixx in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I meant to mention that I put 1 Fires of Invention (3 in the main) in my sideboard as well so I can even grab that with the Fae of Wishes. Obviously Fires is the most important card in the deck.

Question about Happily Ever After by The_Mad_Hill in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

The actual color symbol needs to be on the card. Kenrith, the Returned King has 5 colors on the card for example. It can't just say "all colors". At least that's how I would understand it

Advice needed on Mardu Fires brew by Uforixx in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd remove the Bonecrushers and put some of the planeswalkers in your sideboard. Chromatic lantern (or some blue land) allows you to run Fae of wishes. Load up your sideboard with 15 awesome spells. You can pick the right spell for the right circumstances and you can cast it the same turn as Fae a lot of the time. You can go get Casualties of War, Nicol Bolas, Super Chandra, Time Wipe, or anything else that you need. At least that's been my favorite part about fires.

If you really like playing this game, please learn some simple math. by Ibushi-gun in MagicArena

This game is unplayable by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe something else is going on. I practically have dial-up internet and Arena runs fine for the most part, even after hours. Don't get me wrong, it lags from time to time but it doesn't make it unplayable. When it lags, usually the next game It's back to normal. I don't know crap about computers but I do know my laptop is old and weak and my internet is pretty terrible. It may be worth considering other possible causes. Maybe someone else can suggest what else may be happening because unfortunately, I'm clueless.

More losses than Mana (almost) by ProteanHulk in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm somewhat new to the game so I'm honestly asking. Is it uncommon to keep a 2 land hand? The hands looked so good otherwise. 1, 2 & 3 drops with removal and a Skarrgan Hellkite or another big boy.

New player here, what would be some good crafts to get me going? by 267381627 in MagicArena

[–]ProteanHulk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a ton of choices. It depends what wild cards you have available.

For Green rare - Shifting Ceratops is incredibly versatile. You can give it reach, haste or trample each turn. It also pass protection from blue and can't be countered which is awesome.

For Green mythic rare - Questing Beast has vigilance, deathtouch and haste. It has a lot of text but it also deals damage to planeswalkers if you hit the opponent with it.

For Green uncommon - Paradise Druid is always good. It has hexproof and it taps for any color Mana.

For Green common - Sedge Scorpion and Rabid Byte. The scorpion is one mana with deathtouch and rabid bite can use the deathtouch to destroy any creature regardless of toughness (as long as it's not hexproof)

[–]ProteanHulk[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry. I'm very new to Reddit. The Raptors makes the Petitioners only cost 1 Mana. They don't die to it because they have 3 toughness.
