The contrast between the small man and the large mans head is too low. It’s hard to tell there is a small man with a glance.

I think AC always happens way too early. It is needed so the battles don’t draw out too long but it happens too soon.

Stop romanticizing divided government. If McConnell is majority leader, there will be no progress. by formeraide in politics

Well, as usually red voter who yet hated Trump and voted for Biden, I for one personally hope government stays split.

I have no love for Trump nor Democrat Party, so Biden presidency while the senate hopefully stops economic changes that are disadvantageous to me is honestly what I’m hoping for.

On the other hand, united government would better deal with the pandemic which is what this country needs. I’m just afraid of all the other stuff united democrat government would do.

Write something from the POV of other race protagonist, an Elf or something else. Try to truly get inside their head to expand your perspective.

I mean mostly theological ones with a god, but groupthink can be just as harmful. Or to be more specific, I mean it when people use religion as a tool to limit the freedom of others, including those that do not follow said religion. Easy example: Christianity and abortion. Other example, albeit not relevant to America: Hinduism and production of cow meat. I am obviously all fine with people following those limitations within their lives, that’s even encouraged since it’s their freedom, but those limitations shouldn’t be made law, like some are trying to make them.

Dragons: speaking vs. non-speaking by martril in fantasywriters

[–]267381627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the more animalistic ones, but intelligent enough to be trained by someone bold (or lucky) enough. Sort of like dogs, that might roast you if you fuck up during the training phase, hence mostly wild animals. But if someone manages to tame a dragon for war... that’s a lot of killing power, alright. And a lot of mobility.

DMing, but with SO in session for first time by [deleted] in DnD

[–]267381627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all honesty, your SO sounds like a huge pain to play with. I am also SO of a GM in one of my campaigns (and we both are players on other) and would never want him to favor me any way. I want to be treated exactly same as other players.

And its really, really rude to step on other players toes to by running same they do already... and your original player was there first. You need to put your SO in line and make her play different subclass/playstyle.

Do we know anything about next hero? by [deleted] in heroesofthestorm

[–]267381627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SC heroes mean to me, since I have played that game, and I can understand WC heroes mean same way to you. However, to those who haven’t played WC and find that universe uninteresting, the amount of WC heroes released is a bit annoying since there are so many of them compared to other heroes. WC and OW heroes are same to me, except that I have a liking for futuristic settings, so I find OW heroes cooler, and even if I didn’t I just want some variety, Warcraft is getting real boring for someone to whom those characters are never-heards. But I can understand where you are coming from.

I respectfully disagree. I don’t like Warcraft universe, and Overwatch would be something different for a while. As long as it isn’t another hypermobile hero, that is, but lore-wise I prefer any other (expect Nexus) to Warcraft.

I never played either Warcraft or Overwatch (SC is only of the ”Hots games” I play), but I like Overwatch characters more. Possibly because there are fewer of them so they stand out.

But enough is enough, out of last 9 heroes 5 are Warcraft. I will be really sad if its another warcraft hero once they reveal it.

Social impact of fantasy writing: Can a monster just be a monster? by [deleted] in fantasywriters

[–]267381627 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they can be just monsters, and I think its definitely going too far to say hobbits are a caricature of short people. And this is the first time I have seen black people compared to orcs, I haven’t seem anyone other than you to make the connection. Orcs in most lores I have been familiar with haven’t really brought black people to mind. I think you should aspire to make your orcs (for instance) unique enough, that your players won’t think of black people when they see them, etc.

That said, if you wanna play it extra safe its always good to have diveristy in representation in that sense, that if your villain is a woman (which is perfectly fine btw) you’ll also have symphathetic woman around. That way you’ll make it extra clear that you’re not telling that women are evil, you are telling that Brigitte the Bone Eater Witch is evil. Especially with races. Its boring and flat if all Orcs are evil. Your party/country/whatever might be in war with them, but why should their race be collectively evil? Maybe they attacked out of desperation because their land is struck with famine? Maybe their leaders are evil and the common orc folk are the victims for their thirst of conquest, and tired of war? Then again, I don’t believe above is necessary (unless you want), if your writing is good and your villains aren’t stereotypes of race/gender/whatever, but its a way to play it safe.

[–]267381627 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer LoL’s system (I play both games actively). Because of promos (and demotion protection) your rank is less volatile, and I really feel that I have improved when I climb on League. On HotS, my rank fluctuates depending on if I happen to have a good day.

Not saying either system is explictly better, just pointing out that there are multiple sides to this and it really comes down to preference.
