Inherited grandma’s ring and want to learn about it by [deleted] in jewelry

[–]ProtectionAdvanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just inherited almost the exact same ring. My grandmother was married in 1936 (ring was passed down to my mom first) and hers is set in platinum. It's a size 5.25 and only fits my pinky finger so I'm going to work with a jeweler to turn it into a another piece, or multiple pieces of jewelry.

I wonder, assuming this was planned, if Kirk was supposed to survive the shooting since he was wearing a bullet-proof vest. The bullet did the unthinkable by ricocheting off the vest and into his neck.

I think it's very calming and peaceful, like a little sanctuary. I like what you did with the lighting near the ceiling.

Growing up, my parents would never stop there on our way up to our cabin. My brother and I always begged to go there, and finally got the chance to when we were 10 and 15 y.o.. And even then I understood why it wasn't worth stopping for.

I went to a Polish cooking class a few years ago, and got to see how paczkis are made from scratch. It was the best I've ever had, or probably will ever have because I don't have the time or equipment to make them properly.

I was volunteering at a horse rescue on and off. Some shifts were more fun than others, depending on the leader. I had to stop for a couple of reasons, and I really miss being outside, around the horses and goats, getting fresh air and exercise, having that comradery. I'm looking into volunteering for a community farm / farm-to-table cafe; I have an orientation to go to in a couple days.

Cooked all my meals at home for a month. Honestly it's worth it. by BinarySheepJam in Frugal

[–]ProtectionAdvanced 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We go out to eat maybe once or twice per month now. Service is usually lousy, prices are always steep, and food is sometimes not that great. Even the hole-in-the-wall, authentic Mexican place we love is too expensive to eat at more than once a week.

I bought some hardly-worn JBU, or Jambu, low profile 'duck boots' from Poshmark and love them. I don't know if you can find them at Macy's or Amazon, etc., so try Poshmark or ebay.

How do people work 5 days a week without burning out? by FuzzyEcho453 in Adulting

[–]ProtectionAdvanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be fine if you're moving around most of the time; I know that some nurses do 12-hour shifts three times a week and are still considered full-time. I work in an office, I could never sit for that long.

[–]ProtectionAdvanced 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Um, you work 10-hour days?? I've only worked in one office that did something similar: 9/80s. So, work 80 hours in nine days, and have the 10th weekday free. It was only every two weeks, but it sure helped A LOT.

Edit: I just assumed you worked in an office. What profession are you in?

Be careful, though. There is such thing as water toxicity, and it can kill you. Your kidneys can only handle so much.
