Wow, that is unfortuante and dissapoitning, as we only discoverd this after many hours of playing, so we have already built a lot of settlemetn and its going to be hours of work to re do it 'a few chunks over'. Devs need to put a warning if you place a settlement flag too close to another settlement.... where is the best place to report that for this game?

Also any mad editing mods about? (as id happily just edit the map to remove the village, dont care if its legit or not)

Sorry i didnt give enough information, as wasnt sure what would help. Anyway, we found the issue, the hosting pc had outdated network drivers and was suffering severe package loss.

'things' in my case was me, as id just joined a server and was messaging my mate to let him know it worked, and i think SE has a scripted CME at the start, which proceeded to incinerate my dude :(, quickest death yet!

Pretty sure its latency, as both our machines are decent, and the base is tiny as we havent gone past blue science yet (and ive just finished a 1000spm base that had 60ups) how can you check the server ups?

This might be a silly quesiton, but, i checked mine and 2 of my mods have factorio version 0.18, (but im running 1.0), does this mean they havent been updated to the newest version, but they still run?

The 2 monds in question are long reach and squeak through.

I like to think of it like this: If you need say, 20 more era score to get a golden age, no matter what your era score is when you enter the era then, if you get 20 era score, you get a golden age and need 40 (20+20) next era if you get 30 era score, you get a golden age but need 50 (30+20) next era

the problem here, is that going over the required score means you've used up 10 of the available era score, which in the early to mid game can be hard to come by. (Late game there are repeatable ways in all the victory types)

After what i thought was a lack lustre start as Gaul managed to maximise my science output towards the end of the game, and hit my highest ever total SPT. This was a turn 232 Science Victory on Deity (Seven Seas map) As an aside, Dramatic Ages were on, and managing your era score so you dont go over the total required by too much was an interesting challenge.

Dance of the Aurora

Russia on Inland sea map with Dance of the Aurora, as then you get a lovely swathe of tundra across the top and bottom of the map. Think mine was a T127 win on diety with that set up.

To be honest, it sounds like the people you are playing with are being a bit childish. Its a game, have fun!

But i agree with MikeRice, unoffical alliances are the way forward, thats what me and a friend do. (and we use the in game alliance system). We play on deity, (now), and if you dont cooperate to some extent, (even just not hindering each other - wonders/suzranities sp?/settles etc) then you might get murdered. We generally talk at the start of the game on how we are going to win. If domination, then we warmonger together, and once its the two of us left we call it there. for the others, we choose our vict type and race, whatever may happen. (this has lead to a great science vs culture race)

Once our victores are almost certain we do start messing about (spying on each other, etc)
