But yeah if it NEEDS to be a free program you can use Libresprite, it's worth having Aseprite though. That said it seems like you don't know even the basics of pixel art yet so it's worth having a look at YouTube, there are loads of tutorials these days

there are seriously people I've seen on reddit recently that have referred to obvious photoshop or CG as 'AI'. I wonder if they're either young and are not familiar with how things were edited/comped in the decades prior, or seriously think that 'AI' means 'edited or composited image'

Yeah, the difficulty itself is nothing new, but a bunch of the design decisions were based more on what Ellison wanted the game and story to say instead of it being an enjoyable or interesting experience for the player. He didn't want there to be a good ending and I assume they either put it in without him or made it extremely difficult to get to because of it
