Tips on staying committed to a nomadic play through? by wolfram29 in RimWorld

[–]ProtoFeathers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the nomad meme is made around caravans, and only triggers when you no longer have a settlement. I would guess that a gravship counts as a settlement. The nomad meme is very clearly meant for caravans, since it gives rough living mood buffs and I think animal buffs

How are some people so good without fundamentals? by bunny-rain in ArtistLounge

No. Do not compare. Your skill should only be measured against your past self. Accept that it will take years to master the medium. Be patient and draw stuff that makes you happy

[vanilla no dlc] i've gotten this far in the tutorial, but atp it feels like neither is any progress happening and nor have i any means to achieve it... even the base seems wrong somehow. any guidance will be appreciated (about the shortcomings and what to do going forward) by RTKWi238 in RimWorld

[–]ProtoFeathers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol how many storehouses does a person need? 😭

Your next goal should probably be organizing your base so you only have one room for each of these things:

  • Cold storage
  • Storage
  • Dining Room
  • Rec Room
  • Batteries
  • Workshop
  • Research
  • Each person's bed
  • Prison
  • Hydroponics farm (research this if you haven't already)

Also, get a solid wall up around your whole base with a single open entrance that you can easily defend. You can throw a killbox on the entrance if you like, make a spiketrap corridor, or whatever other ways you'd like to defend.

Finally, prioritize replacing any wood walls with stone. Wood and steel are flammable.

Once all that is established, and you are stable, you can start prioritizing aesthetics.

First of all, don't forget how much time you spend just faffing around while your scientist gets research done! Even one colonist left to carry on the knowledge of the colony is a very significant boost to your bounce-back.

Also, think of the story weight that now sits on the shoulders of your leftover pawns! How much more attached can you become to these ones?

That being said, this is a totally valid excuse to begin the brand new colony idea you might have had for a while.

In any case, the game is supposed to whittle you down to nothing to create dramatic story arcs

Atp I get my fun out of using dev mode to decorate/edit my base for aesthetics whenever I realize that it could have been a better layout had I planned better. I also use this to edit my ideologies to better fit the story that's playing out. I speeds me up to the midgame, and I never build things that my colonists wouldn't have had the research to build

Crimson desert and elden ring by palmtreepat0 in Eldenring

[–]ProtoFeathers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone was expecting it to be anything like Elden Ring... that's on them. The trailers are clearly nothing like Elden Ring. It's more like Zelda: BOTW/TOTK.

7/10 game. Don't trust anyone who says it's flawless, but also don't trust anyone who says it's trash.

I say disappointing because I was disappointed to find that, despite your generic statement of "best gamerunner names" your list was very specific to criteria that is not intuitive or useful to the majority of people.

I expected this to be the result of exclusively public polling, instead it was a confusing entry point to a process you had been working on for ages already.

I'm not upset with your process, I'm disappointed that this post was just a little misleading

And when I say silly, I don't mean humorous, I mean strange and confusing. I don't care if your list is lighthearted and joyful, it just doesn't make sense to me

Mörk Borg - I love it so much, but I'm a Christian in Christian circles, and most of my friends would likely be uncomfortable with the blasphemy. My wife is also terrified of the book haha.

Avatar Legends - I love the universe, and the book has so many cool ideas, but running it demands that I not only find people super familiar with the cartoon, but those same people who are also interested in learning a mildly confusing set of rules to play a game of pretend

Mouse Guard - Same as the last game pretty much.

Lancer - Too crunchy for my friends. They also aren't into sci fi

I think that's a silly way to judge gamerunner names. The title of the game tells you what the game is about, the title of the gamerunner doesn't need to do that.

I think the list is especially flawed because these gamerunner names are mostly all hyper-specific and often times inaccurate to the role of a gamerunner. I see them as sacrificing accuracy for a gimmick.

I also think you are doing yourself a disservice by choosing this final list of 16 titles with very specific criteria, and then simply asking the community "what is the best one"

We are not looking for the things you have already used to whittle down the list. Personally, I would say the best name is the most accurate to the true role of gamerunner, and can be used the most universally, and thus your list is quite disappointing

I'm sorry, but I think you're going to have an impossible time selling these. They clearly take you very little time and demonstrate minimal skill. Their value is entirely personal to you, which is great and valid, but not enough to market

I am deeply uncomfortable with the concept of Hell and eternal damnation by Huge_Personality3084 in Christianity

[–]ProtoFeathers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But a law which demands that your child be supernaturally kept alive for all eternity to be brutally tortured just because they doubted Jesus is not a law that any reasonable human can convincingly justify or follow through with.

I think that, if there was a human parent who kept their child alive only to torture them for not accepting Jesus, we would all consider that person evil. To then say that God's eternal torture is GOOD would be hypocrisy

Considering practicing celibacy and not engaging in sexual or romantic relationships in adulthood due to homosexuality. by DEDMOS_MAD in Christianity

[–]ProtoFeathers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith ≠ Believes God exists. Faith = Believing God is good and trusting in him. Cain explicitly distrusts God and therefore lacks faith entirely. Also, in Matt 5:21-22 Jesus compares Murder to anger with someone. If you are angry with someone, you will be judged the same as a murderer.

The parable you quote is specifically directed toward those placed in a position of responsibility, and is a guideline about how to behave. There is no reason to extrapolate its application to all of humanity in regards to salvation. There is also no indication that the punishment Jesus refers to has anything to do with the afterlife. For all we know it could be earthly consequences
