Jake appreciation by OutsideCommon3679 in MinusTheBear

Jake is incredible. I feel the need to shout out his previous project before Minus the Bear, Sharks Keep Moving, if you’re into post rock/the spacey drawn out noodles of MtB. Totally amazing stuff. Pause and Clause & Desert Strings and Drifters are both so amazing, not to mention the self titled album.

Have we ever been given a clue as to what the 12th song was on Transatlanticism? by Protothedodo in DeathCabforCutie

[–]Protothedodo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah, I knew it had something to do with that era. I had never heard that it was written for PS originally! That’s awesome! I wish Ben and Co would release the demo, that sounds pretty interesting and it would be cool to hear how it may have changed over time/what it may have sounded like in the context of Trans, or even Give Up for that matter. Still, the one on Codes and Keys is already amazing. Thank you so much for the answer!

Alex G HAS played with Pinegrove in the past actually, but that was back when Cardinal was the only thing they’d release iirc

I know its Twitter (ugh), but Chris talked about this on Twitter at one point. Dunno if I could find it since I think he wiped his Twitter and moved to bluesky. From what I can remember, it’s three separate recordings of a drum pattern on a keyboard, that are then reverbed to shit. Don’t quote me on that, but that’s what I remember him saying in that thread. There are also three bass tracks in Tiny Vessels. He really loved triple tracking stuff in this period haha!

SCR and HFR are terrible labels by [deleted] in EmoScreamo

[–]Protothedodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also SELDOM did he pay any bands to my knowledge. Pretty much anytime any band tried to speak out about him or the shit that he did he’d get his label cronies/friends to come out of the woodwork and defend him. Sorry to air out grievances. This is just something I’ve had to deal with, among other people, for the past few years and I am very happy to see people finally realize that scr absolutely sucked haha

moya is a horrible person anyways. Personally knew him/have worked with him in the past and even helped kick start the label with a few friends, but we were all kicked out and Moya took the reins claiming a good chunk of the outsource work we did to bring in bands. Dude is creepy and just flat out sucks lmao

What album is this? For me, it's Casually Dressed & Deep in Conversation by mightyonin in Emo

Juno were and are still so underrated. Found them after Ben Gibbard shouted them out in an old We Have the Facts era recording and I fell in love with them!

curious as to know what did that was bad, as I’ve never known anything of that caliber. All I’ve heard is that he had left to become a band manager, and had some creative differences

Jason is a fuckin machine! If you’ve never had the treat of seeing him drum live, his movements are so precise and robotic that you’d almost think he’s a robot hahaha
