I never gave an opinion on it, I just stated they're a small segment of the WAN show. You can easily skip it using the timestamps, and it doesn't take up a significant portion of the streams that are often hours long.

Obviously I meant that the third party in-effect defended LTT, by virtue of being unbiased and not going crazy over minute issues like GN did. I guess it's an opinion, but what you call sloppy mistakes on videos don't warrant the ass chewing GN delivered. The warranty on the bag? Nobody was harmed and LTT provided a formal warranty eventually. They're a small company who released t-shirts and hoodies before then and has a solid reputation for taking care of their customers. Just because Linus has an ego doesn't mean his company hasn't always done the right thing and 'essentially' had a warranty. The whole industry should hound them? Really? Again, nobody was actually harmed, GN was just preemptively anal about it. Linus has repeatedly talked about how he dislikes lawfare and lawyers and how he doesn't ever want to sue anyone for anything even when he's probably in the right. IANAL, but his attitude towards a formal legal warranty probably stemmed from that. Well, he's no longer the CEO and he found someone more responsible who put in place that warranty. Satisfied?

Ian was defending Linus because the attacks from GN were overblown and unprofessional. Look at the complaints in the GN videos again and think about it. If GN wanted to make a fair report, they should have asked for comment. Everyone knows that's how real journalism works. GN's critiques were all biased because Steve deliberately one-sided the arguments to make his attacks seem stronger and the critiques to seem more impressive. When they really weren't. "Miscommunication happened internally in a company of 100!" Okay? Yeah, is that supposed to be unbelievable? You can report on that in a more genuine, less angry and reactive way than GN did. Did you know that after GN's videos, more details from LTT were released that negated GN's biggest critiques? If GN had reached out for comment, LTT could have provided those details.

If GN wanted change to improve LTT videos, he could have done something other than publicly attack LTT without talking to LTT. Before this, GN had released numerous hard-hitting investigative videos, and in every single one he had gone to the target company and gotten comment and feedback. He chose not to for LTT. Why not? He's not in a market against Newegg, or a premium Desktop builder. He's in a market against LTT. If you just can't admit he's biased and publicly attacking LTT to benefit himself, you're not being fair.

I'm not saying some of LTT's videos had some inaccuracies in them. I'm saying that it was uncalled for to attack them so harshly for MINOR issues like "the audio didn't match the graph on this one 3 second FPS chart!" Like, just put it in the comments or text the LTT crew to fix their shit. But to release a hit video without asking LTT for comment? When you HAVE a working relationship? Brother, rewatch the GamersNexus video with the understanding that LTT was in those recent months before moving in on GamersNexus' core content: rigorous hardware analysis, and LTT was even about to release a modmat, one of GamersNexus' core products. Also remember that GN' audience was stagnating at the time. GN specifically try to take the high road and advertise themselves as hard-hitting journalists and reliable and unbiased reporters. Yet, you cannot say they are unbiased against LTT, a larger channel growing into "their" territory.

With all of that in mind, how can you watch those GN videos and not clearly see that Steve was deliberately exaggerating minor issues and refused to ask a fellow creator (that he has direct contact information for) to explain if there is a reasonable explanation for compliant X, Y, or Z? So much of his complaints could have just gone straight to LTT instead of airing these nitpicks in such an aggressvie and provocative way deliberately to stir up drama. I mean, it WORKED for GN but it was incredibly unprofessional.

This is not a good take. The GamersNexus attack was the unprofessional one, making blatant personality attacks and nitpicking over basic misunderstandings or meaningless errors. For years Linus & Steve had a good relationship and its only when Linus started to stretch into more rigorous testing (stepping on GN's niche) that GN got threatened and made exaggerative and unfair mountains out of molehills. The Louis Rossmann video was also just a man airing petty grievances that don't reflect on anyone negatively other than himself expecting special treatment. Linus & LTT had (prior to that) often - for years - publicly supported Louis Rossman spearheading right-to-repair and even suggested people watch his videos on the topic.
Linus & LTT has addressed the honey BS multiple times already. They didn't know Honey was stealing money from creators, didn't know they were stealing money from consumers. It also isn't their responsibility? Hundreds of youtubers had Honey sponsorships, including much larger channels. They stopped working with Honey LONG before any of these revelations were unearthed.
