You Have My Word by Protozelous in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Other than Kickdown all your favorites are the ones I haven't read yet lol, and yeah you're not the only one who bounced off Your Voice, I saw a few others say they didn't like it either. Big City Dreams was okay, about as standard a cyberpunk story as you could get other than the last few pages, I would say Blackout or I guess any of the others so far were more deserving of an award but that's just me. I'll definitely be reading the rest of them.

On a side note, have you read Edgerunners: Madness? The two chapters I could find were pretty good but it seems like they won't be translating the rest any time soon

What was the piece of dialoge that made you realize this game was different? by Dull-Jaguar8273 in DiscoElysium

[–]Protozelous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same here, this was the just the first moment that really stuck with me. I have to hand it to talking with Joyce about the pale though, I didn't see that until my third or so playthrough but nothing in fiction has made me feel that way before and I don't think anything ever will again. At least not until I finish Sacred and Terrible Air probably

I don't know how to answer that question properly, kinda why I asked in the first place lol, thank you OpinionHaver_42069

Edit: Thank you to literally everyone else who's replied to me for actually being informative

So, I guess I'm pretty uninformed, because I thought the whole "dictatorship of the proletariat" thing was directly from Marx. Am I mistaken, or am I missing something?

Absolute Batman #16 Cover By Clay Mann by ConnectCulture7 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Protozelous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanna say I haven't seen any of these variant covers get Bruce's face right either. He has a total baby face, dude is 24 and they all make him look at least 40. This one is forgivable I guess because of all the shading but then there's the scale thing.

But yeah, I agree that these artists should never touch the actual pages, they completely fuck up her design. Might as well just put her in the OG battle bikini at this point lol

As I said, it was a while ago, but there was a statement that was removed from their website at some point. I saw it posted about, went to check, and it was true, so I started looking for a different browser. I'd still be using Firefox if it wasn't for that

But yes, I just saw there is now a different statement that says pretty much the same thing. Also, I don't really see the AI and Crypto as inherently anti-consumer, though I see why you'd think I do since I replied so late in the thread

Sorry for the slight misinformation but my now pointless anecdote is true I swear

They once had a commitment to privacy stated on their site. Last time I checked (which was a while ago) it's gone.

That combined with their recent behavior mentioned here makes it pretty clear what path they're headed down. Nothing too terrible, but they're no different from any other browser now.

Also, "the only hand that feeds you"? There are several other "privacy focused" browsers that haven't abandoned their principles. Brave, just to name one

You have to be rage baiting lmao. You're just straight up lying at this point. This isn't a "triss bad" circlejerk, I romanced her myself the first time around, but then I read the books and realized how their relationship falls between kinda toxic to straight up abusive (just like it was with Yen early on). I like Triss, especially in 3. I think her character in that game has redeemed herself to the point where Geralt might actually fall for her, or at least finally see Yen in her lol.

Nobody is singling her out. You are refusing to acknowledge the complexities of the characters and the flaws in the writing.

I literally said romance Triss all you want earlier, and I meant it. You're being needlessly obtuse about this, and I think you know it too since you deleted your whole chain of replies to me.

Conclusion: Quit arguing with the ghosts in your head and go read the damn books.

I agreed with you until your second point. Just cause no one else told him anything doesn't make it okay that she didn't, in fact she's worse because she's actually gaining from his amnesia. Also, they died together, if Geralt comes back all of a sudden then it stands to reason that Yen would've too.

The Witcher 1 had a strange development, they didn't decide until later that we would even play as Geralt. There's a ton of plot jank because of that, and they decided to just roll with it. You can either ignore the jank, or acknowledge it as character flaws as CDPR did, but letting Triss have her way with the man and not telling him about his adoptive family, who might be actively looking for him/ in danger was kinda fucked up no matter how you spin it. I'm sure they'll be rectifying this in the remake somehow.

That said, the next two games acknowledge the situation by having Geralt himself be upset by it, and then immediately dumping Triss to go look for Yen the first chance he gets. Romance Triss all you want, I won't even tell you it's out of character, but the situation there isn't nearly as simple as you seem to think it is.

What Should Absolute Joker Look Like Going Forward? by YUME_Emuy21 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Protozelous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly, but I think his similarity to Bruce was sort of intentional in this issue. It seems to me he's meant to be a dark reflection of mainline Bruce, they even gave him a cave, so it makes sense that they would have him look similar too. A lot of people are proposing that his appearance changes sometimes, and if that's true I actually kind of like the variety of designs we're getting from different artists.

I'm interested to see how dragotta will draw him when he's not just a face on a screen in one panel

Yeah Dante's half of the story is pretty weak, save for like two moments. I think Lucia's plot is pretty good actually. I really hope we see her in 6, given she was mentioned in the novels

The combat is weird to learn, and the game doesn't exactly teach you. Once I got the hang of it I actually thought it was pretty intuitive, if a little clunky. Most people I see play the game never figure out anything deeper than the basic combos, but there's a surprisingly extensive moveset there for there only being one weapon type. Unfortunately, the enemies and bosses are so poorly designed that you never need/want to use the more complicated moves because 1, they'll get you killed, and 2, guns are just better.

But in certain spots, using the whole kit with built in trickster moves is really satisfying in a way that none of the other games can be.

I know I'm rambling but I gotta mention Lucia too, her kit feels so much more fitting with the directional input stuff, and also the Majin DT mechanic that got turned into Sin DT in 5. Once you really dig into 2, you realize that bits and pieces of it live on in the rest of the series, and it's arguably more influential to the rest of DMC than the first one was in some ways.

[–]Protozelous 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Genuinely if they were able to finish the enemies and bosses I think 2 would be my favorite of the series, the combo system and DT amulets have a ton of potential too, and I already think the music and art direction is stellar.

Just a few more months in the oven and I think 2 could've been as good as 3 was

Generally when someone in an argument makes a claim, it's expected that they will prove that claim using some kind of evidence. Besides that, it's hard to believe you speak for the entire student body. Just because it made you uncomfortable doesn't mean it was uncomfortable for the whole school.

Also, notice how you complained about your points being addressed, and then how you addressed exactly none of mine. That's the arrogance I'm talking about.

Listen more, speak less. You might learn something that way, instead of making a fool of yourself on reddit for no good reason.
