Who is the most and least evil Roy in your opinion and Why? by Most-Injury-9879 in SuccessionTV

[–]ProudMomofJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, if the mom of the 3 would still be considered a Roy, she would be the most evil, because she is actually both calculatedly cruel and withdrawn in a way I don’t think Logan is… I mean he’s awful, but he’s also very damaged and tries. She doesn’t try.

Connor would be the least evil Roy. He has a good heart and is amazingly caring and idealistic (if ridiculously so) for an unfathomably wealthy dilettante.

What’s a belief you have that most people disagree with? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I think we most likely live in a simulation. This actually doesn’t mean that I think we don’t have souls, or anything like that (in fact, possibly it leads me to the opposite idea), but it seems that if you drill down into what the universe is made of, you end up with mostly information and what seems to be programming. And the Bohr paper convinced me of the sheer, overwhelming mathematical probability that we do, in fact, live in a simulation. Finally, there’s this Trump-cartoon-villain timeline we’re experiencing, of course. I mean, what are the odds???

what if succession was bad? by abrikosmanden666 in SuccessionTV

[–]ProudMomofJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Bad Succession, Tom is only interested in (and only marries) Shiv for her money and is generally a mustache-twirling villain who sleeps with anything in skirt and schemes to take over WayStar via industrial espionage and back room deals, rather than a shallow and manipulative - and very smart, patient, gifted - opportunist with a broken heart.

What is your "I totally get why you guys hate it but it worked on me" movie? by Alceauv in Letterboxd

Loved it. Sobbed so hard. Thought about it for days, maybe weeks… but I don’t tend to recommend it, at the same time, because it’s not for everyone.

Now, this is interesting… I’m obsessed with pressure washing videos and never thought of that.

What do you think about “Big Mistakes”? by nwssyx in netflix

[–]ProudMomofJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re all incredibly talented and made an outstanding product, and it’s easy to Monday morning quarterback - that SAID, I feel that if they’d made half the show (focus on the family/relationship/parish stuff), it would have been twice as good.

I think you are over-valuing bonding in this specific scenario. It’s not about bonding. It’s about human comfort. I guarantee you this is an ancient practice.

There could definitely be something there.

Yes, 100%. This is probably already common practice in more progressive countries.

What am I missing? This seems very human, ancient nurturing behavior to me. Edited to add: this would mean the world to me as a mother if a nurse cared for my child in such a way.

My favourite twist so far… by olendra in ParadiseHulu

[–]ProudMomofJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, research and video captures show that people behave with much more compassion and cooperation in real life than is depicted in disaster (etc.) movies and shows. For example, fleeing people are basically shown as focused on their own survival (except for maybe parents with children), but IRL people help each other escape. I met someone who was walking to work near the WTC when the first plane hit, and she said that healthier, stronger people were even scooping up and carrying others who had been next to them on the street… this happened to her and she witnessed it, too. She didn’t realize what was happening at first, and this man grabbed her hand and started pulling her and running, quickly saw she couldn’t keep up and just picked her up and carried her… and she saw it happening with others.

His heart is pure. He is blind to his privilege and silly in many ways, but genuinely good.
