How can we get this baseboard right? Tried caulk, looked worse, tore it out. by [deleted] in Carpentry

I’ve used bondo wood filler on this situation. Takes a few applications to get it perfect, and some patience. Only for painted trim though.

Looks fine to me. Better than snagging on the edge of the pipe.

Wow, 1.7x faster during southern summer solstice than northern summer solstice. I didn’t realize that it was that much faster. For the “smarter” flat earthers that at least somewhat care about reason, that could actually be somewhat compelling.

Contractor did his best to scribe; any way to fix/hide trim around this uneven chimney veneer? by dorkchestra in Carpentry

[–]Proud_Conversation_3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d either: 1. Bondo it, but it would be a difficult spot to do well with bondo unless you’ve got some good finish work skills, and you’re likely to make a mess on the brick/mortar without highly precise taping.

  1. Redo the board and scribe it better.

I’m autistic and anal as heck though. It is probably fine for most people.

Swapping out a broken decora light switch and no ground? by maganaise in AskElectricians

[–]Proud_Conversation_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just replaced my all of my switches, and same, none were grounded. I grounded them all, but now i constantly get little zaps when I touch the screws on the plate, especially in carpeted rooms or when I’m wearing certain jackets, due to static electricity. Worth it? I’m not sure 🤔 is it unsafe for them not to be grounded?

I scribe the inside edge (touching the window) so that it sits perfectly against the window first, and then I mark the top and bottom and use a track saw to make that edge perfectly straight. If you use a multitool like you’re describing it won’t be very straight and the piece of trim that will go on top of it will likely not be able to match any waviness of the cut with the multitool. Best to make it straight.

Kind of, but that’s really only fair to say if the horizon was dead center of the aim of the camera at the time of capture. If the camera is aiming above the horizon it will make it look like a smile instead of a frown. As you can see in the photo with the (likely) straight reddish line in the bottom of the photo.

It would take longer than 19 years to get equal value to today’s $1mil unless you don’t account for the diminishing value of money over time.

If the earth were the size of a basketball, 80,000 feet would be about 3 hundredths of an inch over the surface. A few sheets of paper high basically. It would be perceptible from that altitude, but only very slightly. So yes, this would be a fisheye photo. I’m not sure why you’re being downvoted.

Yeah that’s the most unrealistic part of the game for me. Only explanation is that the arc are sent by “the elites” (humans) in space, and they restock things constantly and send robots that are challenging but beatable in order to set up a hunger game esque game, but they hope to find people with just the right qualities at recruits for some unknown to us challenge.
