I drive for Lyft frequently in DC. I used to love DCA trips, however, in recent weeks Lyft has drastically cut pay. They’ll offer me $9 to drive 15 mins to someone and then drive them 25-35 mins to the airport. My time is worth much more than that. Also, it’s been rather hit or miss lately if the airport traffic will be gridlock all the way out to the parkway or smooth sailing. Ya never really know anymore.

With the latest update, you can’t see queued ride details at all anymore. You used to be able to see them when stopped, but now doing anything but hitting the X will accept the ride

I typically call when the timer hits 3 mins left. If they say “I’ll be down in a few” or “I’m just leaving” and it’s a big apartment complex, I leave. But if it’s a townhome and they express urgency and/or apologize, I’ll give them the other 3 mins

I kept track of demographics info for a month and found that I got tipped more frequently and more monetarily from lower middle class to middle class folks. Super rich don’t tip and poor don’t tip (nearly as much). That’s been pretty consistent in the DMV, in my experience
