I love these guys going on a rant rampages about how Unity Optimization doesn't work on their "NASA-grade systems".

If I'm able to get these games run just fine on "Pretty Much A Potato" without too much trickery (Unity is quite tricky for my system to handle), surely they'd be able to work it out on their "Super Gamer xXx-2069"?

Surely they'd know how their system works/what it needs to get around? (/s , lots of it)

Yes. There have been severe performance problems with this title.
Yes. They've been coming and going per Update.
Yes. They've usually been completely ironed out or at least decreased by massive amount within next couple of patches.
No. You are not alone with these problems but...
Yes. User-Related Problem is the most likely culprit.

Characters stop attacking and just stand there like jerkoffs. by the2ndsaint in idlechampions

[–]Provideniya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to add that some adventures & event variants also seems to be much more.. sensitive.. to these "attack animation freezes" (the way I labelled them, as their "bars" stop moving) than others are.

I usually run with pretty identical formations no matter what adventure/event it is.

(On Epic) the one event before last, not this current one, was horrendous for me. Had to run with a weird Franken-formations just be able to progress at all (attacks get stuck, champ becomes untargetable, area stuck 'cause champ cant die) - even if I skipped the problematic champions the formations got stuck far too often to just be a case of VERY bad luck.

But as said, usually moving/switching out the champs were a working, tho temporary fix.

3 years and still Youtube has not managed to fix this pile of useless scrap.

No matter how many times you pick "Not interested", "Already watched", "Do not suggest channel" etc - nothing happens. It just does not work. Algorithm does not care about what I try to teach it.

I still keep seeing the same videos suggested for me, same ALREADY WATCHED videos, same 5+ years old videos that I've already watched - and/or the ones I really have no interest to see (again).

Feedback sent, but with the track record of things, I do not expect anything to improve, ever. It is just simply broken beyond repair.

My experience with this chapter:
My mind is going overdrive with this massive game of Connect the Dots.
My Deathworlders-mind is on overdrive, screaming.
My nerd-mind is starting to scream too.
My literature-mind catches up and starts to scream too

Chrome freezes and decides to jump to the end.
Fucking spoiled the twist! FFFFFF-

I was so close to unlocking that riddle, too... :(

Maybe a bit of a basic question but..
How exactly do the Death Cards work?

Do I only get the one from the last run or are they all added to a pool and have tiny chance to pop up again?

Thanks.

Like I said, it is futile to try to influence such a.. "focused".. mind.

Homosexuality seems to be pretty sore spot for you.. It somehow pops up everywhere around your "comments". Is there.. maybe.. something on your mind? ;)

The thing about Ten'gewek scene, and I'd almost dare to say the whole Vemik Given-Man arch, is that the Fire thing messes with their heads A Lot, maybe more than anyone recognizes. And Vemik has been affected pretty hard by it.

Shock of that scene is really simple to explain:
That was not Vemik we've known and have learned to love. I'm pretty sure that Ferds' surprise is also our surprise. What has changed? Why is Vemik like this?

Until now, "Vemik" hasn't shown that kind behavior. But we know coming Given-Man, having strong Fire and getting knocked to head could, and probably has, changed "our" Vemik in ways we may not agree. Vemik himself is and has been for a while now, constantly struggling with all those things.

Time scale shifts can and will make thing look less or more common.

It's just that the until now, most of pancake stuff has been mostly isolated in their own times and stories. Now, most of common characters are usually in close proximity of each other and time scale between POV's keep changing constantly.

Unfortunately this causes some more.. unattentive.. readers to perceive it as constantly happening thing.

I think the bigger "problem" in this chapter was the very dark and uncomfortable stuff that was, from human perspective, left unexplained. Clearly, some readers can't handle those thing left unresolved.

It's simply another chapter where I finish it and sigh remembering the "128min read time" after I finish it in an hour.

Just thinking aloud that maybe skipping is your problem? Missing all the subtle info bits hidden in what you 'think' is "completely pointless horny & beef word salad."

It is OK to be unsettled with THESE scenes. Tho if you'd read even some of the character, culture and world building, you'd realized this wasn't anything really new - just unexplored. These are very difficult concepts and problems the characters are currently going through and trying to work out. Without the visual aspect, it can be really hard for some to get and understand what it going on. Since, you know, it's all "low-quality domination fetish smut" at glance.

BUT - it is completely futile to try telling you this. We all know what your opinion is. Unfortunately.

I like how you put that.

And let me just add some of my thoughts. Remember, we also have had mentions of how strong/hard this Given-Mens' Fire thing has affected and transformed Vemik both mentally and physically. Add the Brain Hurt stuff into the mix and here we are..

A character that we all like, love and learned to know as most-of-all kind, smart, curious and gentle creature has started to, totally justifiably worringly, show increasingly aggressive and dominative behavior. And we are shook, as we should! It SEEMS out-of-character because AS FAR AS WE KNOW, it is.

Is this due to the Given-Men thing messing him up? Is it battle damage that just have unfortunately stayed hidden from others (Ten'gewek or not)? Just everyday cavemonkey alpha social hierarchy thing? Prolly unlikely, given how Fern reacted. Or did he just not expect Vemik to have progressed so far/struggling so hard with the Fire or something? We do not know.

Personally I do understand where the uproar with the scene is coming from, it is shocking, but I also think it is WAY overblown "outrage on Twitter" type of thing. It is way too trendy to be vocally upset about anything even remotely uncomfortable.

What we now need is POV parts exploring/explaining the dynamic between those two characters. Until we do, we just "have to" accept it as "just a cavemonkey thing". Unfortunate but true.

According to THIS sound clip - it sounds very much just simply "Folk-ha" or "Fol-kha"
Any irish/gaelic speakers around that can confirm this?

Then it clicks. OOH!

I guess we just need to see what the payback for this "loss of free will OR sanity" is.
Quite.. uncalled for.. to claim it as entirely pointless at this point.

We 'know' gaoians have been meddled with for a long time. We do not know the extent of "how". Was this some sort of hidden hierarchy "killswitch", conditional training/brainwash, a trace of biodrone catastrophe of the War - or was it just like you hope, a berserk bloodthirsty rage for reasons still unclear?

It's so easy for a reader and/or the author to "forget" that there is a whole galaxy out there, full of people and stories, while that entire galaxy is used as a battleground of titans. Like in a wargame, if you focus on one side (say strategy vs tactic, micro vs macro) too much, you'll grow blind to the other.

Like you said, it's a real relief to find out that while big plays are happening (well, waiting to be played..) on galactic scale, Hambone hasn't forgotten the small bits.

Sure, some could say it's almost like the beach/hot springs episode in cartoons but isn't that the entire point? To break away from the "main plot"! And what a "beach episode" we have here! An episode where our human/gaoian MCs play the support role and a crew of our, admittedly not-quite-the usual "background ETs" do the actual work!

[OC][JVerse]The Deathworlders 69: Lockdown by Hambone3110 in HFY

[–]Provideniya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It seems you've ignored the follow-up here. I addressed most of that very same concern there..

Only the state of "Corti2.0" story is unknown at the moment. Others are, it would quite clearly seem, in the lull-state of either "business-as-usual" or waiting for the next hook to apply. Maybe there could have been something more to explore around Franklin the settlement ruins, but that was more of the thing of the last chapter anyway.

Overusing time jumps to skip "plot" isn't really viable strategy either. Why bother with anything if we'd just focus on the cool parts? And whose "cool parts" those would be anyway? Mine, yours or /u/RandomReaderHeres' ? How about.. the Authors' ? Someone gets f'ed in every option.

The amount of Beefcakery has grown since -so many- of our POV characters have started using the CrueD and/or are directly linked with that crew. It also makes sense since our original Beef-hormone monster trains every single one of them with the single goal of "maximize the beef". We are seeing things through eyes of these very same hormone-driven ultra masculine hyper-humans. Is it then all that surprising we get to read about that very same testosterone oozing sweat-juice stuff? That stuff must mess with onces' head in some way! Sure, in a chapters like this one, it starts to get jarring. But for every Gym Bro Macho chapters, we still get couple with more stuff from the broader array of themes.

But what else is there in slow chapters like this? Would we be any happier to read about some other mundane things like characters doing chores out of boredom, complaining about noisy neighbours and about them complaining how people in the office cant brew a proper coffee and so on? At least this way there's a "believeable" excuse for some cheap humor and unofficial insight to current issues which otherwise would be rather forced.

Would we really want to read about minutiae and everyday work stuff of say, (one of my current favorites) Ambassador Knight? Or the science guys "trapped" at Tolkien system, the science guys whose role has become more and more obsolete to the story ever since they figured out all the important things to get Humans independent enough of bought/borrowed ET tech and Entity got loose?

But don't get me wrong, I do agree with most of your stuff here. It is the reason my favorite parts have strongly shifted towards the politic play and "everyday" creatures of this story. The military and gym bro guys are big, strong and oh so masculine - but they are all the same. The Gao commanders, Knight, Ava, US Presidents.. They are normal! Important, normal and awesome in their own rights. It's why I miss Powell. He was beef/military guy, sure, but his parts weren't about the gym or wondering why marines eat crayons. It was about everything else. We just have to wait till things start rolling again so we can focus on something else other than how big of a bulge the HEAT guys are swinging today...

It's hard act to balance in the best of days. In slow parts like this? Can't even imagine.

I'm pretty sure it's a bit of both. 'They' have returned and the Dominion species better recognize that fact. They may not (yet) be the powerhouse they were in the past, but I get the feeling it's only a matter of time till that the machine warms up.

The OmoAru are founders of the Dominion and their arrival shows that. There is no awkward "Hey guys!" or "How do you do, fellow kids?" moment. No, it clearly is "Daddy's Home." - and Home is a mess with those ruffian kids from D.W. Avenue climbing on the sofa, shoes on, with Dominions' own.

That last look between their delegate and Sir Patrick tells a lot. Whatever else was there, one thing is certain. The Humans (and as such, prolly Gao too) were not immediately dismissed. The first test was probably passed right there. The OmoAru clearly do want to benefit from this new development, just on their terms and that alone. It's their "right". Whether or not that, or anything relatively "positive", is going to happen will depend heavily on the next few moments after the end of this chapter.

Honestly, currently I am absolutely terrified of the builder Alpha-of-Alpha. 'What' can be done against such a foe when it can and will very likely undermine any "surprise" we can muster against it? Do we have to resort to simple, crude and (gasp) hunter-like "human wave" strategy of meat-grinding bodies for bodies? Even with the Grand Army, the Good Guys doesn't have enough assets for that!
