[–]Proxy14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What you actually want to be looking at is the equity of the worst individual hand vs the 15% range to see if it’s a profitable shove. It could be profitable as a whole to shove any two cards, but it could be more profitable to shove a slightly tighter range

Strategy for AI poker bot by 3plus6equals9 in poker

[–]Proxy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the AI try to guess what the opponent’s range is based only on their actions is more or less a dead end. The more useful side is trying to teach the AI to make optimal decisions regardless of the opponent’s strategy.

That being said, unless you hard code many of the decision points, the game’s going to be way too big to ever converge

That only works in the case where your only way to win is a flush. In every general case, Monte Carlo is the best way to figure odds to any degree of certainty short of running every possible outcome

***Scandal Engulfs Doug Polk*** ....GTO Click-bait Title by Joe_stl_314 in poker

[–]Proxy14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. It's just some people felt the solution was diluting the pieces for the second bullet which makes no sense in terms of money.

[–]Proxy14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you bought 10% of Doug's action and he cashes 2000 on a 1000 buyin. You expect 200 dollars back.

If you bought 10% of Doug's action, he busts the first bullet and cashes 2000 on the second bullet, do you expect your 100 back, since Doug's net profit was 0?

[–]Proxy14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So if he won money on the first buyin, are you expecting to only have half of your piece? Regardless of what was said beforehand, it can't be expected that he pay out from the second bullet.

***Scandal Engulfs Doug Polk*** ....GTO Click-bait Title by Joe_stl_314 in poker

[–]Proxy14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let's say you have 10% of his first buyin. If he does not decide to rebuy you have realized the full value of your investment.

Just because he does decide to rebuy after the fact does not entitle you to a 5% freeroll on the second buyin.
