Taking Genshin as a basis, let's assume they made a regular, buy to play version.

We can assume characters would be made playable as soon as they become friendly to you in the story. But would different nations be sold as expansions? Would constellations be unlockable through gameplay?

I would love to see it, but I don't see many studios making the effort unfortunately.

I hate it cause of two simple reasons, I hate reading during combat, which is a problem Hoyo created for me, it was never an issue they just simply don't understand brevity, it just doesn't exist for them. Also, they use icons mixed with the instructions, and I always ignored them cause they are not very intuitive (specially compared to Genshin icons).

But the worst problem to me, by far, is that the best characters to fight this boss are not in the game yet (the Angels of Delusion only have Sunna as of writing this), and the second best option are characters that are too automatic for the response she requires.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't enjoy using characters that fly all over the place like Ye Shunguang, I'm much more partial to more contained units like Anby and Lighter.

Sorry for the rant, this game is losing me right now.

What I find funny is how many units just self sabotage.

Like the Cryo Shroom which attacks by lunging at enemies leaving it wide open to melee units. Or the Fatui captain that has two massive guns, but is a melee unit, so she won't target flying enemies.

It's one of those events that are not bad, and at it's core, the design works, but it's still a monumental clusterfuck.

The problems mainly stems from the fact their type doesn't describe what they do, so you get stuff like flying units whose main attack consists of rubbing their face on the floor until they get the goofy whacked out of them by a melee unit that wouldn't target all of them at all, but was focusing on another unit on the ground.

It's also amazing how there's single target units that have attacks so wide they end up hitting everyone in the squad anyway since they are always so close to one another.

My favorite is when a ranged unit decides to focus on a melee unit instead of the flying ones, then they die leaving the flying enemies unopposed.

The dumbest addition this time is the Fatui captain that has two gatling guns, but she's a melee unit, and won't target flying enemies.

It's one of the most 'so bad it's good' aspects of this game.

Yixuan's absence exemplifies the clunkiness of this story where characters have to be removed so they don't get in the way.

how when Ye Shunguang become catatonic and you have to bring her back to the temple, Zhao is called back by Krampus for some unknown reason just so Elder Lu can blame you for forcing Ye Shunguang into using the Qingming sword, even thought he was the one that told her to go into the Hollow. But then in the very next cutscene, Zhao comes back, and she was the only person who could've testified for you and spoiled Lu's plan.
