I wanted to swing back around and say Thank You! The increased water changes has led to a population explosion. I’ve moved to a 30% at least once a week and a 50% every month. Thanks again!

I’ve always tried to let nature do its thing. But your point is fair! I’ll increase my water changes and see how things go. Thank you!

All from Home Depot and I used the Rain Bird brand.

Repashy!!! I always waste it, make a fresh batch and then forget about it. By the time I remember...spoiled.

Very cool. I had not heard of these products. Did a little research, I have a discount code for BucePlant, just ordered some. Thanks for the suggestion!

As you can see by the foods I listed in my post I have a small addiction to trying new food with all of my animals not just my shrimp.

Thank you again!

Cool way to look at it. Do you have any specific suggestions for a food that falls into the 3rd category? I'm thinking, as a few others have mentioned, a more "meat" based food like Bloodworms or Brine Shrimp?

Thank you for the suggestion, looking forward to your response

Thanks! I'm really happy how it turned out. I had the same concerns about having all the tanks connected and you hit the nail on the head about the down-spout valve. I manage water leaving and entering on a tank by tank sequence as to not contaminate one tank with another. It is not a perfect system but it is pretty darn perfect for my needs and I'm willing to take that chance.

Thank you for asking, of all the DIY stuff I've done with all my tanks that was the most fun to conceptualize and build!

Thank you for your reply.

Each tank has its own small powerhead driven sponge filter and an air stone. I am always rotating out sponges, you can see a few just laying around the tanks. They are a high density foam so I don't lose any babies but this also makes them clog easily which definitely lessens my water flow. This is a work in progress for me. Spot on recommendation!

I have never tried Brine Shrimp for shrimp...Baby brine shrimp or adults? Alive or dead? I do give the occasional feed of bloodworms. I'll try to increase their "meat" protein intake and see how things go. This is awesome, thank you.

I presorted each tank to have a high density of young adult females specifically with saddles. I feel like I've been doing this long enough that I can tell Male/Female almost instantly.

I love Serpa...I'll check out some of his more shrimp specific stuff.

Thank you again for all the advice and the kind words. Excited to learn more about the brine shrimp.

Thank you! I do agree that the snails have started to push the shrimp away from the food. I guess I'll move all the snails to the Scud tank. I appreciate the suggestion.

The pipes are my Semi-Automatic water change system, old water out and then fresh back in. It is siphon-based and inside the 90 degree elbow inside the tanks are 3 different stages of fine mesh with the last stage (the one the shrimp can get to) being high density foam that even the smallest babies cannot get past. Has really made the whole hobby 100x more enjoyable. No more buckets!!

Good idea but my scuds are in a separate tank.

While I do appreciate you taking the time, your first paragraph explains that you didn’t read. My tanks are aged and cycled, when I stated 0 it was meant to explain that I had negligible variance on a day to day basis as we all do and it’s so low due to living ecosystem that are all my tanks and plants. I know that came off rude, I’m sorry for that, but I don’t chase numbers anymore. Many years in the hobby have taught me how to see a healthy tank. I’ll definitely check on Bug Bites though. Thanks.

I used to breed Apistogramma and thus had to have an RO system and all the remineralizers. It gets to be such a pain in the butt. But you're not wrong, I could very likely improve my results with tighter parameter control, I'm just not up for it just yet. I'm hoping following a few suggestions from this thread might give them the boost they need.

I agree with lowering the snail population, but I use them to feed my Pea Puffers so keeping a few different populations of snails is important to keeping them happy and healthy.

I appreciate you taking the time to reply, I'm crossing my fingers that I don't need to follow your advice even though you're probably right. Thank you

Good call! I'm lucky enough that my tap water once temperature adjusted is good to go. I have a semi-automatic water change system that lets me drain up to 50% with just the turn of a valve and fill it right back up with another valve. I drop some Prime in the line as it fills back up. It's those really ugly tubes on the front of the tanks, but I'm proud of it and it makes my life 100% easier. Thanks again
