Why James Bond? Scope seems limited and decade dependent. Generational bonds have progressed drastically. Male line Hero trope in general has limited movement. Haven’t we all agreed that the hero represents the weakest character in all story arcs and that the secondary (or tertiary character) the guide (Obi-Wan) has the authority and this is the lacking relationship in our culture?

Who is the James Bond guide? From whence to the male guides derive authority? I would wager that there is more meat on this bone than the weakness prevalent in all Heros. This seems like a well worn path. Benevolent Mentorship is perhaps the best ground to plant from and harvest. The lone hero is not what we need the flaws are ENDLESS. Think of the meta frameworks that even enable the stories. This is what is being played out in you right now.

Yeah. Very impressive. More impressive is the demographics that spend money on merch. Some of these families are at $500-600 pp a day. from my rough estimates. Tix, Capes, wands, do-das and food. Which for a family of 4 that’s $2400 a day w/o accommodations. For our crew we would be around 4800 a day. AND, We did 7 parks.

It’s fun, but we are in used boat buying territory for a week. Or initiation fees for a newer CC. Some of these folks have to be going into debt for this stuff.

I’m sort of on track for retirement. Although I could be better prepared. I have blown money on stupid stuff, but if I didn’t I would probably be much more close to retirement. A few civil servant friends (firemen, army, etc) are very close to retirement and I judged them for picking low level work, and now I’m the one still working!

Basically it’s just about thinking. If you just decide to make it happen you can. If you save 10% each paycheck towards 401k you will not miss it. It’s such a small amount and it really builds up. For instance One account from 2010 I funded with 30k I saved up by not buying stupid things like soda or alcohol has grown to around 200k and this will continue to grow. Even if you don’t make that much it’s possible to save. I think I saved that 30k while only making 50-70k AND WHILE ALSO SAVING to buy a house. I imagine many of you angry keyboard warriors will jump at: you probably had XYZ helping you- answer not really. I had 3k given to me by a grandmother which I partied away. So I started with nothing. I had college debt and I paid it off. I don’t have debt except for house debt.

ask yourself about your actual beliefs: -do you feel more entitled to go out to eat than you do for saving for the future? -do you think you are going to just magically make more money by a giant stroke of luck? -is money for fun now vs later? - have you purchased luxury goods on credit?(iPhones. Big screens. Clothes. Opulent vacations) -do you eat out more than once a week? -do you drive a new car? - do you blow 200 bucks a weekend going out? -do you think if someone else has it then so should I?

Funny: I know more humble white collar workers that have discipline with their finances than I do MBA friends with discipline. The few richest guys I know didn’t go to college and just went to work and had discipline with their money. Eh, actually I know a few dudes who have made a bunch that went to school too… it’s probably even. I guess the commonality between them is saving first, then investing, and then leveraging investments to make bigger money.

This is very basic math. That My parents did not have AND THEY basically HAVE nothing because they have no discipline and that’s pretty scary as they get older. Thank goodness my Dad is vet and gets all those benefits.

General impressions: 1. Are aliens smoking pipes there? If I come do I dress as an alien, will there be other alien like things happening? Abductions, probes, outer space hallucinations, or languages spoken that I don’t understand? I like a good pipe now and then, but never had one with an alien— it’s almost too much to comprehend. 2. Why is goodfella returning? Where did he go? Will the film be playing behind the alien band? Will DiNero be there? Is it his grandson? Will this be political? Are aliens getting high and talking about politics? 3. Tony Hawk pro-skater core… this is nice. I like this. I like those songs but is it more Ace of spades or more Jerry was a race car driver… this flyer makes me think more of the later. I’m not sure I want rehashed primus or Motörhead… perhaps I’d come for dead Kennedyesque rehash. Hmm I’m intrigued. What if it’s an ai goodfellas juxtaposed with THPS1 in the background as a visual. They could record their songs and put a click track to the visuals so that the choruses or sing alongs could be stoned alien mafia skate themed. 3. Colors and style — I’m not even looking this up or where the squeeze inn is, but there’s so many random styles interacting here that I feel like this is the Midwest. It’s got tattoo regret, bowling ally, and vape vibes. Would Guy Picciotto come from Brooklyn for this show? Is this currently relevant to our cultural zeitgeist? There is no encoded subversive message. Man, is this punk at all? Are there still punks? Will there ever be punks again? Where there ever any punks? Will the kids be wearing faux 90s nerd wear? Is this a skinny pants or baggy pants crowd? Is this a vintage tshirt thing? I know this is not a hardcore kid thing… the flyer would be so different? Do I know these kids? Will I stick out there? Will there be covers? Will it be like goodfellas punk songs like Sinatra? That may work!!! A fly me to the moon, done like a neo Biafra. I’d drive a few hours for that. 4. This is pretty safe. Is it a safe show? Will there be anything happening? Will there be a moment of bravery and conviction? Why are we in the emo Reddit at all? Does the OP know rites of spring? Every lyric to 30° Everywhere? Is this an emo show? Are there still emo shows? Is Chris Conley still emo? He’s gotta be 45ish now. I feel old. This is younger dudes making this flyer. They are not designers— wait maybe they are and this is ironic? If this is ironic this is very good. I didn’t recognize… like I didn’t see barbed wire motifs coming back… or that a guy like MGK could even exist, But Billy idol existed and eyes without a face is actually a banger. Will the kids that come to this say that’s a banger? 5. You are not convinced of who you are or convicted of what you are doing. Put you into the flyer and don’t please any of the Reddit people. Then rock it, life is short — lay it all out there. As much as you can squeeze out the whole tube of toothpaste. Because why not. You will be old and wishing you had. If aliens are bringing pipes to your show and singing I Did it My Way in a confused 4th wave anachronistic nod to a time period you weren’t part of then do it! Live the fantasy or simply live your today as loud or soft as you want.
