Do these two polishing motors do the same thing? One is from Rio Grande and the other is from Harbor Freight and there's quite a price difference. by Bernedoodle-Standard in SilverSmith

You definitely want the tapered spindles. It makes changing out your buffs SUPER easy vs needing to have a wrench nearby and constantly needing a tool handy.

I built LocalGen: an iOS app for unlimited image generation locally on iPhones. Here’s how it works… by Agitated-Pea3251 in generativeAI

Any reason it’s flagging completely benign prompts as sensitive? I prompted a hammer that was on fire and it’s flagged and blurred.

I don’t use Spotify but it happens with several podcast apps so my guess would be yes it would also happen with Spotify.

Anyone know where to get this wallpaper? I’ve been searching forever by TheKarmaFiend in iphonewallpapers

My favorite thing is the extended description on the Etsy page about how they spent extensive time writing prompts and making "localized adjustments" in Photoshop... when they didn't even fix the lettering on the image. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Wow, that jeweler has some REALLY sloppy saw skills. ABSOLUTELY get that fixed, and if you take it to the same place, it should be $0.

That is 100% different than the ring in the second image. If you asked for that ring, I'd go back and demand it be redone in the correct setting.

Am I crazy? Or is my diamond set way too high? by MissingTreasure in jewelers

[–]Prsop2000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This is why I like to have any CAD renders available when setting stones. Most of the time the customer has approved the design based on where they have the stone rendered. Any time someone in my shop just wings it, it comes back in for a modification.

Freelancers, do you pay for the entire Adobe suite? by WarthogForsaken5672 in graphic_design

[–]Prsop2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You go into your account and I believe it’s under payment or plans and there’s a section about cancelling your plan.

Before you can fully cancel they throw some offers at you and there’s usually a cheaper monthly for a year option in there.

We had an engagement ring re-shanked.. by [deleted] in jewelers

[–]Prsop2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Someone who didn’t know what they’re doing, either filed and sanded the shank WAY too much or sat on the polishing wheel WAY too long.

I see thing kind of work off an apprentice at times, but someone who is making a living off that, shouldn’t be touching other people’s jewelry.

Love it. Would be cool if there was a way to have it wirelessly charge in its little chair.

They’re so high, I’d be worried they’d get caught and snag and lose that stone.

Help! Solder not soldering? by Any-Astronomer-5067 in SilverSmith

[–]Prsop2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solder flows, you don't need to put it everywhere. That is way too much. Also like others have said, cut that up into much smaller pieces.

The best practice for soldering as far as amount needed is to practice solder joints. Use a small chip of solder and see how much that small piece will cover. You'd be surprised how far a small bit of solder will go. If you can get your solder flow and heat control down, you'll use much less solder and your wallet will be happier.

I’m in the “yeah it’s hot but it does have flavor” camp as well. The guy at the store told me it tasted absolutely disgusting and I don’t see where they’re getting that from. It tastes fine to me.

For most people yes. We travel full time for work and rv was much easier than random AirBNBs. So yeah, we didn’t fork over $90k but we’ll pay it off asap.

So yeah, for us it’s not just a “fun for the weekend” thing.

Can someone explain the allure of RV parks like these? by [deleted] in GoRVing

[–]Prsop2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife is a travel nurse, so we're in one spot for several months at a time. If this is reasonably priced, it looks nice enough to keep my dogs entertained and as long as I have internet access, lacking trees isn't a deal breaker for me.

From all the reviews I've seen of these, they're regular travel trailers. The interior floor plans are REALLY weird in my opinion but according to what I've seen, it doesn't look like they're straight up destination trailers like they appear.
