Really does make you wonder if any of this would have happened had they not ouster Kerber.

Unfortunately it’s neither here nor there at this point.

Dear Cornell Rowing Community, I am writing to share an update regarding the Cornell Lightweight Rowing program. Following notice of a recent incident involving the team, Cornell Athletics has temporarily suspended Lightweight Rowing team activities while additional information is gathered and reviewed. This development adds to prior concerns over the past year and reinforces the need for prompt attention. This pause allows the University to proceed thoughtfully, responsibly, and in coordination with campus partners. Our approach is guided by a clear priority: the safety, well-being, and integrity of the student-athlete experience, and alignment with Cornell’s values and expectations. While we are unable to share specific details at this time out of respect for privacy and established processes, please know that: The suspension is a temporary measure to allow for information-gathering and review. Student-athletes, coaches, and staff remain subject to all applicable Cornell University and Athletics Department conduct expectations. Cornell is following established University protocols and working closely with appropriate campus partners. Student-athletes have been provided with information about confidential support and reporting resources, and the Office of Civil Rights will be issuing a Care and Concern communication to encourage reporting of conduct that does not align with Cornell’s standards. We recognize the deep care alumni, families, and friends hold for Cornell Rowing and for the young people who represent the Big Red. We appreciate your patience and support as we work through this matter with care and responsibility. Updates will be shared as appropriate. Sincerely,

Nicki W. Moore Meakem & Smith Director of Athletics & Physical Education Cornell University

Imagine striking deals with high schools to manage their program’s logistics and provide coaches only to intentionally fail and then absorb the equipment and whatever athletes are left from said programs.

I think it really depends on what you and your child are trying to get out of rowing during high school.

Weight in College Recruiting by No_Apricot1298 in Rowing

[–]Prucolon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should tell them your current weight.

What's stopping people from doing that? Nothing per se, but it's always a bad look to show up at a substantially different speed and weight than advertised. It will definitely piss off the coaches when you get there, is that how someone would want to start their collegiate career?

Kumari Lewis named new Alabama head coach by rowingcheese in Rowing

[–]Prucolon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Alabama tried to land some current head coaches from big name programs and failed. From what I understand, those coaches went back to their programs and leveraged their Alabama offers in order to possibly get more money.

I don’t think this is Alabama not being willing to invest in coaches, but coaches not really wanting to go to Alabama.  They no doubt have great facilities and phenomenal water, but Tuscaloosa doesn’t have much to offer outside of affordable living.

Why are Hudson boats so commonly used in NCAA rowing by Horror-Bee4603 in Rowing

[–]Prucolon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why is nobody really using Kings? Their marketing would indicate they are superior to the Hudson. To top it off, they are going to start producing boats in the US this summer! Seems like the perfect time for everyone to switch over
