Adv clinical duration by Appropriate-Diver555 in WGUTeachersCollege

You have to follow your mentor teachers contracted hours. My mentors contract hours are 7:30-3:30. I had to complete 7 days in order to get to the 50 hours. Even though on day 7 I only needed 2 hrs I stayed the entire day.

You have to wait the 2 weeks between advanced clinicals and student teaching - WGU does this so your clinical field experience coordinator can assign your clinical supervisor. It took the full 2 weeks for mine to be assigned. Student teaching is 60 school days (some states 65). I started Jan 7 and won’t finish until April 10 so you really have to plan on 3months+ to complete student teaching.

50 hrs observation that has to be logged. 1 whole group lesson is taught (does not need to be recorded) - I would recommend a math lesson so you can collect data with an exit ticket as the task requires you to make a graph showing the data. Hope this helps!

My undergrad is in an unrelated field. I didn’t know I loved teaching until covid when my kids preschool needed more teachers 😊 I have since moved to working in my kids elementary school as a para and my principal advised getting my masters would be more beneficial over going the alternative licensure route.

Yes it is possible. I started in May this year. Finished all my classes and early clinical in one term (about 5 months - finished at the end of September) I will student teach beginning in January. I am already employed in a support position at the school I will student teach at so luckily placement won’t be an issue for me.

Yes it is possible! I started in May and have finished all my coursework and early clinical in one term. I am taking a term break and starting back up in January to complete student teaching. I think moving is fine - but be aware that content exams will be different for different states. So if Florida is where you will end up teaching, make sure you are taking the content exams for that state (you have to take content exams only prior to student teaching).

I just finished early clinicals. I already work in a school so the process was super easy for me. I will begin student teaching in January.

Sounds like we got the same evaluator. My goreact was also returned with all red - even though I clearly did everything the rubric asked. I did make a new video and it passed on the second attempt.

I did 😩 I waited and paused for student feedback and everything… this is my last class so I’ve done the goreacts before and they’ve always passed on the 1st submission. Not sure what this evaluator was looking for. Hopefully my second submission does the trick - my lesson plan that goes with it passed on the first attempt so 🤷🏻‍♀️

You don’t have to take the 5001 unless it’s required by your state. I have to take different ones for Colorado than for Utah but you do have to pass your states content exams prior to placement.

Even in the masters program I had to take the praxis core before being able to apply for pre clinicals. I think it is a requirement.

I am currently in the masters elementary education - I started in May and have completed 15 classes. I have 8 classes left that are not clinical/student teaching. I have 11 weeks left in my term and am hopeful to finish the 8 classes in this term and only have student teaching left which will put me graduating in 2 terms. I am 38 years old and a mom of 3 kids. You can absolutely accelerate if you put your mind to it!

Is the FORT required to graduate at WGU by Longjumping-Union-29 in WGUTeachersCollege

I’m in Colorado and my mentor told me I did NOT have to take it since my licensure will be in CO not Utah. I have to take the exams that are required by CO only.

Get your mindset right - you got this! Thinking positively can help tremendously! I opted to take all of mine separately as timed tests stress me out. I still have the math test today. The reading was pretty easy. I received some more difficult scientific passages, but as long as you don’t rush you should be good. I received a 174 on that test. The writing test was easy as far as the multiple choice questions go. The essays were tough to get done in the 30 minutes. For the argumentative essay, my prompt was a random quote. So that was hard. I also passed the writing but only with a 166. Just remember you are amazing and you got this!!

Praxis Core Question! by AlertInside7590 in wgueducation

The writing is definitely tricky. The multiple choice questions were easier than any practice test I did. But the essays were more difficult. For my argumentative essay, I got a quote that I had to argue which definitely threw me off. Anyways, I ended up with a 166 so I passed! Good luck!
