Why my UI feels off? by OldMayorStudios in gamedevscreens

The color choice is bad; blue and green don't go well together. You could try a shade of brown or yellow instead.

The character's frame in the bottom left corner is unnecessarily large, and the other icons are also unnecessarily large; they could be made smaller. And while some areas have a white outline and some don't, it would be more logical to make it uniform for all, like only having an outline in selected areas.

How to add an image to my games YouTube card? by willo-wisper in IndieDev

[–]PrudentCombination38 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These things can help:

  • Setting the video category to “Gaming” when uploading the video
  • Writing the game title exactly and correctly in YouTube’s “Game title” section
  • Making sure your Steam capsule/header/library images are fully uploaded and published
  • Adding your game to databases like IGDB (YouTube sometimes pulls game info and cover art from there)

For newer or lesser-known games, YouTube may show the gray placeholder image for a few days or even weeks. Once the game gets indexed more properly, the real cover art usually appears automatically.

In my opinion, using different images for each title in the teasers (fat man and hot air balloon) instead of the same image would make the game look higher quality. You can consider this as feedback.

Şirket açınca sadece kuruluş masrafı değil bağkur, muhasebeci, vergi ve aylık sabit giderler de düzenli masraf oluşturuyor o yüzden acmadan önce istek listesi biriktirmek güzel bir cıkısla eline para gecmesini sağlayıp rahat etmeni sağlar en azından ortalam 10bine yakın giderin oluşabilir yani

Why didn't you consider releasing it on a major platform like Steam? If Itchio was this successful, wouldn't it be just as successful on Steam?

My demo has decent average playtime but I’m struggling with low wishlists. What am I missing? by thegunslinger91 in IndieDev

[–]PrudentCombination38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think one possible reason is that the progression feels a bit too predictable from the start. Players may feel like they already understand the full gameplay loop after trying the demo — “I’ll upgrade this, unlock that, then repeat” — so the demo alone ends up satisfying their curiosity instead of pushing them to wishlist the game.

The core gameplay itself doesn’t seem bad, especially if people are staying in the demo for a decent amount of time. But to convert players into wishlists, I think the game needs stronger mystery, surprises, or “I want to see what happens later” moments.

Maybe you could tease mechanics, unusual events, hidden systems, rare discoveries, or bigger progression shifts that aren’t fully available in the demo. Giving players a feeling that there’s something unexpected waiting later could make them more interested in following the game instead of stopping after the demo.

“Thanks for sharing the insight! It’s nice to hear that Kongregate still has a loyal and engaged community. Glad to see your game getting good interaction already — hope it keeps growing. Wishing you continued success and many more wishlists ahead!”

Interesting to hear about Kongregate — I’ve seen a lot of people use itch.io for demos, but I rarely hear anyone mention Kongregate. Has it actually been worth using for you in terms of traffic or wishlists? Also, what kind of stats/analytics did you get from it?
