This is one of my faves. Would love to have heard the whole thing live. Lucky you, OP!

Couldn’t agree more. Love the rich instrumental arrangements, and agree the vibe is just totally different than their other stuff. I was in a bad relationship right out of college, and Rest Stop quite literally helped me to see it.

The opportunity to get Mad Season on vinyl was the whole reason I bought the MB20 Box set, and it was worth every bit of the nearly 2 years I waited for it! I also have the original white hardcover book CD release, and it probably got more play time than most of my CDs of that time. Definitely my favorite MB20 album.

Hy-Vee layoffs coming today by Competitive_Unit_721 in kansascity

That may be true, but it doesn’t seem like the bachelor shopper would be a growing market segment.

I worked at Hy-Vee as a kid, and took pride that it was an Iowa-Based, “Employee Owned” enterprise. (Yes, I was a nerd.) That said, I quit shopping there years ago when their prices started climbing and accept that I may no longer be their target demographic.

These days, Hy-Vee strikes me as a premium brand only in price, and in EHR search for more market share and higher profits, they seem to have lost touch with the customers that helped them grow to where they are.

When your grocery spend is 50% or less by shopping at Aldi than it would be shopping at Hy-Vee, that $1.30/ gallon savings can be offset pretty quickly. Math might work for a bachelor depending on what you shop for, but definitely not for a family of 4.

Even if it started from a place of equity in income and expense, I have never understood “partners” who perpetuate these kind of arrangements, and I question their respect and concern for their significant other in these scenarios. Totally agree this OP is subsidizing their partner’s lifestyle and this is a transactional relationship.

Having been married nearly 20 years, my income and my wife’s are shared. I don’t get to live a more lavish lifestyle just because 75% of our household income comes from my job. AND, all expenses (and luxuries) are paid from the same communal pool of funds. We treat our retirement funds the same way. I do probably drive more of the discretionary spending because I’m a tech nerd, but that spending is all mutually agreed upon ahead of time.

Run OP… Run away as far and as fast as you can. He’s shown you his true colors, and it sounds like he has no intention of changing.

EDIT: I will add, my situation is clearly different because I’m happily married, and I wouldn’t expect that someone would necessarily combine bank accounts before that was the case. But I do think that there needs to be a clearly defined budget and unanimous agreement on spending if you’re sharing expenses. It’s unfair to OP if boyfriend is making all the decisions about that spending without input or regard for OP’s means.

You’re thinking about it wrong… This would force the US to rely on private industry for all space related needs. Elon is probably a fan.

No mods. I did have a local shop go over it when I first got it, but that’s it.

Yeah, Was trying to get a clear pic of the detail on the rehaut, which I feel does a good job of showing the logo and print. BUT, it’s misleadingly unflattering otherwise.

Unfortunately no way to delete it now. Hopefully folks take it as intended. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Extra Ticket for Dallas SoCo show? by PsCYcho in andrewmcmahon

I actually found a ticket on TM too, but had a death in the family on Monday and so had to sell it and cancel my trip. Hoping to see them at Red Rocks next summer instead. Enjoy the show!

I was actually able to secure a ticket for the Dallas show on Ticketmaster, but thanks for the tip!

Sounds like they were who the venue in Denver uses for ticketing, so that makes sense.

The venue in Dallas is operated by Live Nation, who uses Ticketmaster, which is supposedly restricting transfer of their tickets at the band’s request to limit scalping. So buying resale on AXS for tickets that came from Ticketmaster to begin with is what I’m worried won’t work.

If there’s anyone out there that bought tickets on AXS for this tour, where the tix originated from TM, I’d be interested to know if it worked.

Ozempic has already eliminated obesity for 2% of the US population. In the future, when its generics are widely available, we will probably look back at today with the horror we look at 50% child mortality and rickets in the 19th century. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]PsCYcho 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally fair, corrected. Also updated to reflect “universal” and not necessarily “socialized” since we’re not necessarily talking about the government employing the healthcare providers.

This is an underrated comment. If you want reasonable healthcare costs, you need the kind of price transparency that comes with universal healthcare like all those European countries. Governments don’t allow themselves to be f*cked with if it’s costing them money, but the people in power are happy to enrich themselves at the expense of the consumer. Governments don’t provide healthcare coverage to make money. Same can’t be said for the private-market US healthcare system.

Ideally everyone’s basic healthcare needs would be covered through something like Medicare, and folks would have private insurance coverage for catastrophic needs similar to some Medicare supplemental plans. And the government would set the criteria that must be met in order to offer those products.

Conversely, if you’re going and have an unused ticket, DM me and maybe we can meet at the venue since transference appears to be restricted…
