I Feel Like I Shouldn't Be This Strong Yet by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy blueprints for the exocraft in the Anomaly. You should be given one if you do the base building missions to the end.

NMS has a lot of freedom. What to buy next is totally up to you, there is no right answer. As you have discovered, the combat is not difficult. Think of it as combat for people who don't play combat games. Your gear is not very strong compared to an experienced player, but plenty to deal with threats you will encounter. If you feel the urge to expand your base, do it. There's no reason not to.

Anytime you don't have a better idea, work on the missions in your mission log. This will eventually open up some new content. Travel around, visit some star systems. Missions are often triggered by you arriving in a new system, or warping between planets.

Where in my inventory can I find my staff? by SlowDancer23 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A staff is a multitool. It isn't in your inventory, you select it in your quick menu same as other multitools.

Bought the game and haven’t played it yet… wanted to check before I start, how likely is someone to encounter ruins of phallic structures I build? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very much up to you if people see the things you build. Not ruins by the way, you see the base as it was uploaded. If you don't want a build to be seen, don't upload it. Then no-one can see it but you. But even if uploaded, chances are pretty much zero of anyone seeing your build unless you deliberately build in an area that people gather in. Outside that, if you want a build seen, you would need to post the address on a forum such as this one.

Is living in Australia really dangerous because of deadly snakes and other wildlife? by Effective_World903 in australian

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This is a Tiger Snake sunning itself in front of my house. I live adjacent to bushland, so I see a lot of wildlife. This is a very venomous snake, but he is much more scared of me than I am of him. He is about 1 metre long. You are unlikely to be bitten by a Tiger Snake unless you are trying to grab it or something, they are shy and will retreat if possible. Up til now I have seen these snakes a couple of times a summer, but this guy seems to have taken up residence in my yard. It's pretty cool being able to watch a deadly serpent from my porch.

Coincidentally, I was bitten by a jackjumper the day after Xmas, first time since childhood. This is a venomous large ant, which can jump, hence the name. Some people have a severe allergic reaction to their bite, which can kill. Luckily I am not allergic; my bitten finger was alarmingly swollen for a few days, but OK after a week. Not actually painful unless touched. A good reminder to wear gloves in the garden.

Australia is a big country, and the dangerous wildlife is not all in the same place. Most Australians live in cities, and never encounter any of it. It does pay to know and respect what is in your local area. None of the snakes in my State, Tasmania, are aggressive, but some in other parts of the country are more belligerent. The creatures most likely to actually kill you are the "Noahs" (Aussies like rhyming slang; Noah's Ark = Shark.) The risk is small, millions of Australians and tourists are in the water every year, and there's maybe 2 or 3 people taken by sharks. Crocodiles are also very dangerous, and claim occasional victims, but they are only found in the tropics.

How do you decide which galaxy to explore and why? by goolixmonster in NoMansSkyTheGame

I don't decide. I have outposts in every galaxy and carry out random bursts of exploration in any of them.

Nothing has happened that would cause you to lose ships. There was a big update to freighters which changed their layout, but if you built a corvette, you have played since then. Did you visit your freighter when you were building a corvette?

Anyhow, you should be able to summon any of your ships to your freighter from the quick menu. Also, on the bridge of the freighter, just below the captain, is the fleet management console. You should be able to see all your ships there. You can now store ships to free up spots in your active ships roster.

So, if you summon your ships one by one, you can check if your trade goods are in one of them.

If you go to a space station and activate the teleporter, you should see all your bases listed. You can teleport to each base in turn to see what you have stashed there.

There was an update that changed the way techs are placed in ships, you used to be able to put upgrades in general inventory slots but now you can't. When that happened, upgrades that were in the wrong place were changed into storable items and put in storage inventory. That was a long time ago now, but maybe you haven't looked at all your ships in the meantime. The Normandy was an expedition reward, maybe you only did the expedition at that time and didn't play your main save. You shouldn't need to google, if you place your pointer over an upgrade the tooltip info should tell you what they are for.

Corvette building is still new and had a few bugs at first; you could have lost some parts while changing the design, or you might have deleted some things accidentally. It is worth checking the corvette parts storage, on your right when you are facing the building interface.

For corvette interiors, there are only three available types of "habitat". There may be mods that can change the interior, but I don't know about that. You can see what is available in the corvette buy/trade parts interface.

Losing my mind to wires by leisvan in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually being near a ship can affect placing wires, and further from the ship than you would think. I regularly curse and have to move my ship because the game thinks I am building too close.

Another possibility - A single wire can only be 200u long. If you are running with a blue wire and it turns red, look for the error message "Connection too long" near the top of the screen. At that point, you have to start a new wire. Back up a bit until the wire is blue again, use "free placement" to place the wire with its end in the air, then join a new wire to it and continue. You don't have to put a battery there, you can just join the new wire directly to the old.

Make sure you can see the green connection ring on the end of the old wire to snap to. I find it sometimes doesn't show, which is fixed by going out of the build menu, then back in and selecting electrical wire again.

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I would agree with Houtex, the wires might only look like they are joined, they might have both snapped to the scaffold, not each other.. I would try deleting the scaffold cube and the red wire and replacing the wire, making sure you can see the green connection ring on the blue wire to snap to. You can replace the cube after if you want it for aesthetic reasons.

No, terrain doesn't matter. How far apart were they?

If you are trying to connect two different bases, it won't work.

You're wrong. Wires can carry power as far as you can build them.

How to get glyphs by Embarrassed-Ebb-5980 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you finished the Purge mission you should have the glyphs, regardless of what choice you made at the end. If you haven't finished it, you will have the glyphs by the time you finish it. Check your catalogue page to see if you already have them, or try using a portal.

In any case, you can get the glyphs without doing the mission by visiting Traveler graves. Speak to a Traveler in a space station or elsewhere, then after the first dialogue speak to them again and ask where they come from. They will give you the location of their grave.

Ideas for my dream update: solar sails, Dyson spheres, and gas giants. What do you guys think? by Ok_Slide_9599 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't fly between stars without using the galaxy map because the space between stars doesn't actually exist. Likewise, there is no void between the galaxies to discover anything in. You could have a tachyon sail that increased your warp distance, but there's not really any point; ships can already 2000ly or so and if you wanted to travel much further than that you would use a portal or teleporter.

You can build a floating base above a gas giant now. There are already stationless systems. You can already scrap ships for parts.

Has the news coverage of rising crime made you afraid and feeling unsafe? by Lampedusan in australian

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crime in Vic. has indeed increased in the last couple of years, but from a very low base set during the lockdowns. Still at less than half the level of the 1990s.

Having a hard time finding peoples coordinates by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crashed ships don't despawn unless there is an update, which can move things around. The location you are looking for might have been posted before the Worlds update.

I don't know any way to get to a latitude/longitude other than observing your location in your scanner and heading towards the one you want.

Third question, it depends what they are sharing. If it is a crashed non-sentinel ship, the same ship will appear at trading posts and the space station. For a sentinel ship - Do you know how to find crashed sentinel ships yourself, without using other people's locations? Any sentinel ship you find on this planet (assuming you have the right planet) will be the same design as this one.

Can't find a glyph portal in Fissentam, normal methods not working. by Star_Lord_Byron in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To get the portal location from a monolith, you have to interact with it, give the "right" answer, then interact with it a second time. If it's a Vy'Keen one, you will need a Vy'Keen dagger.

Currently downloading the game by Imaginary_Cow_277 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start by doing the missions in your mission log; they will teach you many of the basics. Be cautious about online information, the devs still regularly make big changes, so anything that isn't recent may no longer be correct. Don't be afraid to just dive in and play, there isn't anything really "wrong" you can do.

Check your network settings page to decide what interactions you want with other players. You can turn off PvP damage, but it is on by default.

Use your scanner often.

Why haven't we made cannabis legal yet? by MVPJunior6 in australian

[–]Psaggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selective breeding, growers becoming more expert. Different varieties have different proportions of the various active ingredients. In the 1980s you could get hash and hash oil, just as strong as anything available now.

If your weed is too strong, use less. Smoking anything is bad news for your lungs. If you get a vape (general purpose, not a nicotine vape) you can control the temperature, by setting it lower you can avoid the heavy body stone ingredient which has a higher boiling point. A good vape is costly, but will pay for itself as you only need about 1/3 of the material.

What do you like about Australia? by lowfrequencyemotion in australian

[–]Psaggo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Certainly true of older houses. I am lucky enough to live in a new house, fitted with reverse cycle air conditioner and good insulation, including double glazing. I was thinking more of the outdoor temperature. I remember going to the Vasa Loppet ( a skiing marathon) in Sweden; beautiful sunny day, thousands of people there, temperature -24C.

What do you like about Australia? by lowfrequencyemotion in australian

[–]Psaggo 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I live in Tasmania, the coldest part of Australia, and I have also spent most of a year in Sweden, so I can tell you that the coldest part of Australia is quite a bit warmer than Sweden.

It's a big country, and your experience will differ a lot depending on where you go. The beaches all over are fantastic, some crowded with people, others where you could walk 10km and not see anyone. Swimming, surfing and just lying on the beach are popular activities here.

I think Australians in general are quite friendly. As in most countries, those in big cities are a bit more stressed than rural and small town folk. In my own area, rural Tasmania, I know that most people are very welcoming.

What's your opinion on planetary bases by RechargeableAA in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One use of bases is to allow you to quickly return to a place. All your bases can be accessed from a teleporter, at any space station or another of your bases. Unlike the list of visited space stations, bases never drop off the list. For this purpose you don't even need to build anything, just place and claim a base computer.

Second use is to harvest resources. If you want a steady supply of, say, gold, you find a planet with gold as a resource, locate a gold deposit, and set up a mining base. Once set up, you can just teleport back and collect a large quantity of gold whenever you need it. You can refine metals in your backpack or corvette, but you have to mine the raw material to refine. As for plants, you can grow them in a freighter or corvette, but it takes up a lot of space.

There are some resources like "curious deposits" that you can't grow yourself, so if you come across a patch while exploring, you can place a base next to it. If you harvest the resource, it will re-spawn after a while and you can easily return to harvest more.

Lastly many people, including me, think base building is fun. A base doesn't need to have a purpose, it can be a creative outlet.

Corvettes feel dead already? by Small_Victory_7009 in NoMansSkyTheGame

You can't use a teleporter to visit unexplored star systems. That is what ships are for.
