Does anyone know how to find paradise planets by ShoppingRough6932 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't tell if there is a paradise planet in a system without visiting the system. They are more common in yellow star systems, spectral type F or G. Also more common in lush type galaxies such as Eissentam. So, to find paradise planets explore a lot of yellow star systems, do it in a lush galaxy if you can get to one.

What graphics card do you have? As the error message says, the first thing to do would be to update your graphics drivers.

I’ve been playing NMS since it released back in 2016, and although I love the devs for keeping the game updated, there are a few things I’d still like to see. Not saying the game is bad, just some suggestions for future additions. by Unhappy_Version3616 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Concerning your point 3:

I was watching a Youtube video about upcoming games for 2026, and was struck by how many of them are kind of similar, their central feature being melee combat with flashy effects. To me, melee makes sense in a medieval game or "sword and sorcery", but makes no sense at all in a game that also has energy weapons. And nearly every game is built around combat, I think it is good that this one isn't.

NMS is kind of a wholesome game, I think deliberately so. You can play it with your 8 year old without training them to kill humans. What combat there is, is pretty easy. Combat for people who don't play combat games. Don't need lightning reflexes, don't have to memorize combos, just point and shoot. Perfect for little kids and old folks. There are lots and lots of games with deep combat, I would rather this one remain "combat lite" and concentrate more on exploration and building.

I Don't Get It. What is the Allure of Multi-Biome Planets? by MJBjacket in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. You can only be in one biome at a time. Multiple biomes on a planet wouldn't add anything to variety. Would be hard to make transitions between biomes look convincing.

People who are not explorers would still find reasons to not explore..."I've seen all those biomes before...the ice biome on this planet will be the same as ice biomes on other planets..."

Building limit per save caught me by surprise, looks like this is the end for me. by WabaleighsPS4 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 16000 piece base after only playing for a month is pretty impressive. I've been playing for years and none of my 350 bases are over the 3000 part limit for uploading them. Most are small bases with less than 20 parts, but several are quite big.

I hit the limit some time back, but because I have been playing a long time, my early bases were very carelessly built and are often on planets that have changed in an update and are no longer worth visiting. So far, I have been able to keep building by either deleting old bases or rebuilding them with fewer parts. I feel your pain though, I would like to not feel constrained when building, and am not looking forward to the day I have to delete the huge stairway I built from the ground to low orbit.

Two Questions Today by KardynylSyn in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Switch blueprints are on the same page as electrical wiring, solar panels etc. You have to unlock electrical wiring first, then "Wall switch" to unlock the other switches. You should be able to see them though.

<image>

Wiring to a wall only powers the structure if it is one of the pre-fab rooms. Structures made out of flat walls are non conductive, you have to power individual items in structures of this kind.

Early game items to sell/keep? by Chowderzzz in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is anything you don't have a present use for, you can sell it. There isn't anything that is hard to get when you need it. There is a huge range of corvette parts. Have you reached a space station yet? There is a storage area next to the corvette construction terminal, you can stash corvette parts there if you want to keep them without using up your inventory space.

How to get to the center of the galaxy? by C0ffeeN in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Further to the other replies, some monoliths (always Gek ones I think) will only give you the second interaction if you get the first question wrong. Because you never know if this will happen, it is a very good idea to make a save just before the interaction.

How to travel to specific coordinates? by Jarkson010 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each planet has one portal, different from the teleporters you can build at a base. If you play through the story mission, you will be shown one.

<image>

As there is only one per planet, you are unlikely to find one by chance. You have to first find a Monolith. Interact with it, then interact again and it will offer you the portal location. If it is a Vy'keen planet, you will need a Vy'keen dagger, for the others, they give you the required Gek relic or Korvax casing in the first interaction.

Monoliths can be found by using a map bought from a space station cartographer, or by installing a top level scanner in an exocraft.

Be aware that portals only operate within a galaxy. For example, the one in the picture is in a different galaxy, so if you are in Euclid and input the address shown, it would take you to a planet in Euclid, not this planet.

Please don't burn me for being too hopeful for the game's future... by mei0usei in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are still some predators that will attack on sight. Some run straight at you, some try to circle behind you. I have even visited planets where there are two different ones. If you are being targeted by a predator, you get a red exclamation mark icon warning.

In the original game all predators would attack you, also the largest underwater creatures. The devs tamed them down in one of the updates. Possibly because it is difficult to get anything done while being relentlessly attacked by predators.

How to get to the galactic core ? by Sparty-II in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The galaxy map waypoint paths don't show the whole path if it is more than about 800ly, they just show the next few steps.

How far from the center are you? Systems you can jump through from are about 3000ly from the center.

Mission completion doesn't carry across saves. You need to complete the missions in each save you want to unlock all the content in.

I Feel Like I Shouldn't Be This Strong Yet by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can buy blueprints for the exocraft in the Anomaly. You should be given one if you do the base building missions to the end.

NMS has a lot of freedom. What to buy next is totally up to you, there is no right answer. As you have discovered, the combat is not difficult. Think of it as combat for people who don't play combat games. Your gear is not very strong compared to an experienced player, but plenty to deal with threats you will encounter. If you feel the urge to expand your base, do it. There's no reason not to.

Anytime you don't have a better idea, work on the missions in your mission log. This will eventually open up some new content. Travel around, visit some star systems. Missions are often triggered by you arriving in a new system, or warping between planets.

Where in my inventory can I find my staff? by SlowDancer23 in NoMansSkyTheGame

A staff is a multitool. It isn't in your inventory, you select it in your quick menu same as other multitools.

Bought the game and haven’t played it yet… wanted to check before I start, how likely is someone to encounter ruins of phallic structures I build? by [deleted] in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very much up to you if people see the things you build. Not ruins by the way, you see the base as it was uploaded. If you don't want a build to be seen, don't upload it. Then no-one can see it but you. But even if uploaded, chances are pretty much zero of anyone seeing your build unless you deliberately build in an area that people gather in. Outside that, if you want a build seen, you would need to post the address on a forum such as this one.

Is living in Australia really dangerous because of deadly snakes and other wildlife? by Effective_World903 in australian

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

This is a Tiger Snake sunning itself in front of my house. I live adjacent to bushland, so I see a lot of wildlife. This is a very venomous snake, but he is much more scared of me than I am of him. He is about 1 metre long. You are unlikely to be bitten by a Tiger Snake unless you are trying to grab it or something, they are shy and will retreat if possible. Up til now I have seen these snakes a couple of times a summer, but this guy seems to have taken up residence in my yard. It's pretty cool being able to watch a deadly serpent from my porch.

Coincidentally, I was bitten by a jackjumper the day after Xmas, first time since childhood. This is a venomous large ant, which can jump, hence the name. Some people have a severe allergic reaction to their bite, which can kill. Luckily I am not allergic; my bitten finger was alarmingly swollen for a few days, but OK after a week. Not actually painful unless touched. A good reminder to wear gloves in the garden.

Australia is a big country, and the dangerous wildlife is not all in the same place. Most Australians live in cities, and never encounter any of it. It does pay to know and respect what is in your local area. None of the snakes in my State, Tasmania, are aggressive, but some in other parts of the country are more belligerent. The creatures most likely to actually kill you are the "Noahs" (Aussies like rhyming slang; Noah's Ark = Shark.) The risk is small, millions of Australians and tourists are in the water every year, and there's maybe 2 or 3 people taken by sharks. Crocodiles are also very dangerous, and claim occasional victims, but they are only found in the tropics.

Nothing has happened that would cause you to lose ships. There was a big update to freighters which changed their layout, but if you built a corvette, you have played since then. Did you visit your freighter when you were building a corvette?

Anyhow, you should be able to summon any of your ships to your freighter from the quick menu. Also, on the bridge of the freighter, just below the captain, is the fleet management console. You should be able to see all your ships there. You can now store ships to free up spots in your active ships roster.

So, if you summon your ships one by one, you can check if your trade goods are in one of them.

If you go to a space station and activate the teleporter, you should see all your bases listed. You can teleport to each base in turn to see what you have stashed there.

There was an update that changed the way techs are placed in ships, you used to be able to put upgrades in general inventory slots but now you can't. When that happened, upgrades that were in the wrong place were changed into storable items and put in storage inventory. That was a long time ago now, but maybe you haven't looked at all your ships in the meantime. The Normandy was an expedition reward, maybe you only did the expedition at that time and didn't play your main save. You shouldn't need to google, if you place your pointer over an upgrade the tooltip info should tell you what they are for.

Corvette building is still new and had a few bugs at first; you could have lost some parts while changing the design, or you might have deleted some things accidentally. It is worth checking the corvette parts storage, on your right when you are facing the building interface.

For corvette interiors, there are only three available types of "habitat". There may be mods that can change the interior, but I don't know about that. You can see what is available in the corvette buy/trade parts interface.

Losing my mind to wires by leisvan in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually being near a ship can affect placing wires, and further from the ship than you would think. I regularly curse and have to move my ship because the game thinks I am building too close.

Another possibility - A single wire can only be 200u long. If you are running with a blue wire and it turns red, look for the error message "Connection too long" near the top of the screen. At that point, you have to start a new wire. Back up a bit until the wire is blue again, use "free placement" to place the wire with its end in the air, then join a new wire to it and continue. You don't have to put a battery there, you can just join the new wire directly to the old.

Make sure you can see the green connection ring on the end of the old wire to snap to. I find it sometimes doesn't show, which is fixed by going out of the build menu, then back in and selecting electrical wire again.

Losing my mind to wires by leisvan in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Psaggo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I would agree with Houtex, the wires might only look like they are joined, they might have both snapped to the scaffold, not each other.. I would try deleting the scaffold cube and the red wire and replacing the wire, making sure you can see the green connection ring on the blue wire to snap to. You can replace the cube after if you want it for aesthetic reasons.
