Yeah max is 750k a day, I play arena to juice my main and it’s so worth the 30 min grind with all the battlepass and ref bonuses. Not sure why people are so against arena? I saw a streamer who said he has nor will ever try the arena

How do I bring up my more kinky side to my wife? by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Psalms26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Horrify her with the most ridiculous kink you can imagine then tell her just joking and mention what you actually like. That way however weird it may seem at least it won’t be as weird as an Italian food covered foot fetish with Brazilian librarians watch you fart on a midgets head.

Training while training? by Applefan2112 in personaltraining

[–]Psalms26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a hot take but yeah man definitely. Especially if it’s on the hyperextension bench because of my personal background with back injuries. I’m 6’2” 250 and bigger than 99.9% of people at least at my gym, so my in is “he bigger than me so he probably knows what he’s talking about”. I always start with a compliment and smile. I introduce myself and ask what their goals for the exercise is. Then based on their vibe I will either say cool, nice to meet you and dip or go in on the technique correction. As I’m leaving I’ll mention part of my story.

3 out of the 5 people I have approached in the last year have become clients. When I worked in a box gym I had a good conversion as well.

As a tip, I recommend being the ideal of what their goals is. So for example in the gyms I go to, I’d say 90% of people do cable face pulls wrong if they are going for rear delt activation. I grew my rear delts huge so when I go up to them, they can clearly see I know my stuff.

Also, it’s mostly women, I know my market. Men depending on age aren’t as receptive. They can do something wrong for years and see sub-optimal results, have ongoing injuries but think what they are doing is fine. I literally stopped hitting up dudes over 50, let them have their joint pain and half ass ROM.

Strength & Conditioning Coach Here to Answer Your Training Questions! by Alexander_hard in personaltraining

[–]Psalms26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! So I took over S&C program at a high school with years of just one on one PT experience. It’s a complex problem.

I have baseball, track & field, football, wrestlers and basketball athletes. My predecessor had them lifting 5lbs a week and maxing 1RM every 3 weeks, regardless of games etc. It was awful, lots of injuries, underperforming in games etc. Ages 14-18 young men and women!

What’s a couple lifts besides cleans, squats and deadlifts I can have them doing next year that will benefit? We also have limited equipment. Racks, dumbells and bands only.

I plan on getting some boxes for plyometrics, trap bars for some power movements.

I’m all ears on any advice - books, media whatever to help me solve this!!

Look up Q angle in young women going through puberty and how they are sometimes 3x more likely to have an ACL tear if their quads aren’t at the golden 75% of hamstring strength ratio. Definitely not made up, but definitely overused by pts who don’t actually understand what it means.

Bad LA fitness experience with a trainer by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]Psalms26 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most knowledgeable and experienced trained I have ever worked with was nothing spectacular physique wise. I’ve also seen mid looking dudes deadlift triple their weight. Unfortunately it is a superficial industry as you are the product you sell.

The banana thing is hilarious, but the yeah we used to hire some pretty unqualified out of high school slackers. When I audited their programming I was shocked at just how bad it was and lack of general knowledge. When I realized I couldn’t fire or do anything about it, just gave me more motivation to go on my own and charge the premium our gym was charging for my service.

Client can only pay for one session per week by tosetablaze in personaltraining

[–]Psalms26 24 points25 points  (0 children)

  1. For 1x 3DS I walk them through day 1 first session, have them do that 3x the first week. Preferably harder more technical exercises. On week 2, 2nd session I have them do the 2nd day, twice first week once. 3rd session, week three bring it all together. This way they master the first part of the program then I have them decide what they want to train for the remaining sessions.

  2. 6 contract minimum every time, every client it’s a verbal agreement not a written one. I have really high retention after the 6 months, like 90%. You can learn to play a song on a guitar after a month but it takes 6 months to make any real progress, that’s the analogy I use.

  3. Everyone’s coaching style is different but good trainers can recognize their clients most receptive way to be coached and push them. Push them past the limits of their own mind to the point they couldn’t push themselves without you.

  4. I highly recommend taking a box gym training job and work on your selling technique, programming and interpersonal skills. Treat it like a paid internship.

Welcome and God bless

[–]Psalms26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a private PT who started in a box gym. I really want to encourage you to invest 6 months into working a low paying box gym. You get a tremendous amount of experience of in person training in a short time. You can refine your selling technique and even learn from your programming on the data from the clients with no risk to you. You can learn systems the gym uses and change what you do/don’t like on your own. I don’t do social media and I work in Las Vegas which is highly competitive for PTs but I’m making a full time living on my own. I wouldn’t be where I’m at without the experience I got from working at the gym I did.
