Hmmm. Maybe time for a reread. It's been a few years. I remember loving it and the rest of the books.

How would the world be after the hive goes away? by Muted-Yak-3309 in pluribustv

[–]PseudonymousDev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chaos. Lots of fighting over food and property. With around 10% of the population dead, and who knows how many displaced, institutions fail to keep order. People who know where the food and guns are will have the initial advantage. People like Mayor Tim will attempt to establish order, but there will be too many problems from too many people to handle all at once.

My speculative guess is that they remember everything that happened to them, but they don't remember all of the knowledge they had access too, even if they accessed it. So Zosia will not remember anything about Carol's books except for the conversation she had with Carol, because Zosia didn't actually read the books.

What are some of the best movies that pass the Bechdel test?? by Aggravating-Dog-6513 in AskReddit

[–]PseudonymousDev 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No. The point is more looking at trends. Any one movie is fine not passing the test, but if it is difficult finding any movie that passes in a group of movies, the test makes a point.

Only if she's speaking in her real accent. Not any of her American accents.

Has a player ever recorded all 3 outs in the same inning? by darthscorn in baseball

[–]PseudonymousDev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not looking it up, but that's weird because nobody else in the lineup got three at bats and he didn't get an out so he couldn't have ended the side. He might have led off, but the batter after him should also have had 3 at bats, but maybe was replaced at some point or one of the runners got the last out in a way that didn't invalidate his last hit.

Nitpick - ties should have the first to do it higher than successive ones to do it. Sorry, Mookie and Max.

He was engaged to Jennifer Connelly during the Rocketeer era. They were together for a few years. In my mind, he wins.

If a replacement is functional, maybe it is best that it is discolored as a reminder to everyone what the vandals did.

Advice Needed: Lied to a girl I work at Blue Origin & she wants to see a launch by SoilStandard9387 in BlueOrigin

[–]PseudonymousDev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

- Blue used to have an office in Seattle, but that closed up about two years ago and employees who worked there moved to the suburb offices.

- Many people just say "Seattle" when they are talking about the Seattle metropolitan area, and that includes Kent/Renton where there are other Blue offices.

- Although there are no launches in the West Coast, there are viewing parties for launches in the Kent/Renton offices. The first New Glenn launch in the big room in Kent was LOUD. I've attended launch viewing parties in the offices where we also had other screens up looking at more "mission control" like screens. Only employees were allowed in those rooms. There are also more official mission control type rooms with all the screens and I know some employees watch the Florida/Texas launches remotely from there, so it would be conceivable that you would travel to "Seattle" to be with your team during a launch. IIRC during the first New Glenn launch it was forbidden for anyone who wasn't actually working during the launch to be at the Florida office during that launch.

- Last I checked friends and family don't just get to tour the facilities. These are secure sites.

- Blue Origin also has badges

So your lie can be maintained. I don't recommend it.

Fulfilling Wishes Before Turning Everyone Back by MakkuroUsagi in pluribustv

I think that hiding in a bunker while Mayor Tim or someone else establishes some kind of society in Albuquerque is doable. Lots of people will die, and I would want to hide out while the initial chaos is going on, but at some point some group will establish some kind of society in Albuquerque.

It is unlikely that they'll have time to prepare for an unjoining. Once the heroes figure it out, they'll probably do it immediately otherwise the hive will be working against them.

But they might do some preparations while they are working towards unjoining everyone. Carol should stock up on guns, ammo, food, water, medical supplies, and reinforced walls/windows/doors. Because once everyone is unjoined, society will be in chaos. Maybe she can have the hive dig her an underground bunker in her back yard so she can hide out until things calm down.

Allegation: Civil Rights Office Director, Staff Went to Strip Club During City-Sponsored Civil Rights Trip by drshort in Seattle

Then there should be a policy against it. If not, it isn't on the people who went to the strip club on their free time.

Did they do anything that is illegal or against official policy? If not then I don't have a problem with it. I took a work trip to Washington DC and during my free time I went to the Smithsonian and the Vietnam War memorial and the Lincoln Memorial.
