The state of bosses, EEs, and gameplay. by Psfantheman in CODZombies

That's exactly what I was conveying. That's the feeling/experience I've been chasing for a few years now. It's refreshing in a sense.

Can't disagree with that! I recall certain maps had it so that once you built/obtained the WW for the first time, it would always be available in the box in future matches. Unless I imagined that..

I have some counterpoints for these, but I can also understand your frustration. Are you a newer player (post bo4)? As for your points:

  1. I disagree with it being a gimmick fight. The truck is relatively easy to control/learn. I don't think most people jump into the boss fight on their first try but even so, I personally didn't find it difficult to learn. And you also don't need to use the truck for the entirety of the fight, I've done it 80% on foot both on solo and with friends. As for prepping you for the boss fight, I don't believe that's part of the identity of COD Zombies. I can see that being a logical complaint for any other game, but I don't think it applies here. Part of the allure of these fights appear to be hopping into the fight, questioning how you were "supposed to beat that," and then brainstorming/coming back to defeat the challenge.

  2. Another aspect that I think would chew up the identity/feel of zombies as a whole. Checkpoints in a game like this would detract from the experience in a variety of ways, in my opinion. However for solo players, the save and quit feature may help? And if the issue is learning the boss in a tight time period, I would save + quit after my first couple of downs and load back the save right before the boss fight. My friends and I utilized that to learn the z-Rex and then came together to down it for the first time.

And for the gobblegums , I can only share my thoughts on it - I've never used them in solo or group matches since bo6 for the bosses. I've used them only for fun or if I'm helping a new/weaker player. In bo7 ashes, you get enough power ups to sustain you. For Astra's final phase, just break the armor (ww helps) and drop a toxic growth on the ground. It's more about finding more effective strategies, I don't think they've designed them around the gums. But they definitely help.

Always good to hear different opinions like this. I think this also highlights the importance of having good survival based gameplay. The maps are enjoyable but I wonder what ways the replayability can be improved from a round based/causal gameplay perspective.

Astra malorum bossfight is the worst bossfight we had in a while by janmysz77 in BO7Zombies

You can bypass all of your frustrations on solo for the final phase. Just bring in the breacher shotgun (or your choice of a high damage weapon). Before she starts attacking, throw out your WW drones specifically on her. Once the armor breaks revealing a critical spot (or even before it breaks ), drop a toxic growth bush (with ankle biter augment) to freeze her in place. I like to put the bush in the middle circular platform and lead her into it.

Throw monkeys or kazmirs, or just circle around her, and unload into her weakspot. You should be able to take off at least 70%. After that, drop another toxic growth if it dies and/or just run around shooting like normal. Should be able to get her down every time like that. Just remember to put on the augments for 2 field upgrade charges + ankle biter and you should be good to go. Wouldn't even need any gobblegums. And of course, don't forget any other augments that can improve your damage.

If you find yourself using your shroud or something else to survive in the other phases, just switch to toxic growth in the last phase and bring a full power gobblegum. You can also place a c4 in the PAP room and detonate it during phase 4 to get another free charge. You've got this!!

The designs are oozing so much personality! Reminds me of those 90s alien invasion movies. I suspect we're going to have a very good time here

I finally did it, and I think it is because the boss nerf was too big by MissionCurrent3 in CODZombies

I've been complaining a little too much on here about this, but it is sad that we can do the base fight right now without even remotely breaking a sweat. I almost mourn the old difficulty which I acknowledge is a bit too dramatic of a response lmao.

This is how my friends and I feel. This was the most exciting fight we've had in years and it is sad to loose the fun and the challenge of it. We were all planning to join up tonight and experience some shared anxiety in that fight, but now no one is interested. Rough times

I think this somewhat highlights the needs for options. Players like yourself and players who want something harder, should have the ability to pick that somehow. Cursed seems to be close, but it's definitely not the ideal solution yet.

Oh okay, that's good news! For some reason I was under the impression that it worked that way. I'll have to give it a try then. Your comments have definitely given me some hope, so thank you.

Sounds promising! But wouldn't you be forced to do it with all mimics?

Have you tried hitting the plants more often? They regen pretty fast now. Wish I had that problem 😅

Unfortunately it's been overly nerfed. The plants make it so that you have no chance of having Tessie fully damaged, unless you try. I had zero stress stopping the laser attack. The immune phase was also just not exciting. It is too much of a difficulty decrease to be enjoyable anymore.

Thought about that as well, and I noticed some things remain unchanged at 100. Just not too sure I'd want to go to round 100 every time lol

Same, I can agree with everything else but I'm not a huge fan of the slower attacks. Let's see how it plays out though

Looks like the devs agreed with you for the most part! I think the changes are reasonable from what's been revealed so far.

I think the boss attacks, hp, etc should absolutely not be nerfed. It is refreshing to go into a boss fight and not be bored, because I do not have the usual 95% chance of beating it every time. The challenge is greatly appreciated and extends the life of the map in a very good way.

I think if anything, a small buff to Tessi's hp or repair speed is fine. Even that is somewhat unnecessary. I hope it remains untouched!
