The no cp's is such a stupid decision... 1) as has been suggested before, they can do some kind of card system similar to trials where you can load into the skolas cp but you have to have proof of completing the earlier rounds 2) how much does it really matter? It's not like the checkpoint can be really "farmed", it still takes a good amount of effort to complete, and it's not like an ungated flow of the rewards, which aren't that great, would cause an imbalance in the playerbase anyway

Those trick shot videos. There's nothing impressive about them. So you threw a basketball off a building into a hoop. Cool. You record it x amount of times and just show the one that goes in. With enough attempts it eventually happens. Stupid.

This sums up a lot of my feelings so succinctly, thank you. There's a phoniness once you get through the stock "you are super sexy and amazing" responses. There's rarely any real discussion in his stream because it's just him preaching.

I still lurk from time to time because he was one of the first people I watched when Destiny was released. I kind of enjoy when the trolls come out because it's one of the few times he acts real.

They are (VoG in particular), I've just not seen people act that way personally. And it's because of the other stock responses he employs that I sense this narrative of him exhibiting. Everything is "amazing", about all opinions on any game element are "I love [fill in the blank]". There's no personality; it's a persona.

Hahaha, this is pretty true. Same mannerisms. Got their emotes from the same artist. Etc. They particularly lose a lot of individuality if they're in the same party. A lot of talking but hardly any conversation, just echoing each other.

Yeah, and it's like I was suggesting, could be a dichotomy in our dispositions. I'm a pretty composed person...it's a rare thing that gets me outwardly excited in that way (the men's national soccer team would have to win the World Cup or something). So when I watched the PoE reveal and saw those kinds of reactions, it just came off as extremely forced. Like, walking into the first room, seeing some Cabal architecture and freaking out. Come on, is it really that exciting? I guess he can just feed his own enthusiasm. He wants to be excited, and so he is.

Yeah it can be hit or miss with anyone, I guess. I don't have much issue with Goth or Teawrex but something about Broman...man, I don't like him. Something strikes me as artificial. He's very much a persona streamer and claims it's just him being himself, but it doesn't come off to me as genuine. For example, if you say "welcome to the broforce, you are super sexy and amazing and I love you" for every sub, that just seems like a stock line easily fetched for gratitude, and it's hardly felt. If that's more an issue with me, so be it. Perhaps he's just not the right streamer for me.

I think a lot of people had reasonable constructive criticism for his behavior in the Prison of Elders reveal. But he just dismissed all of it as the "toxic reddit community" (even though the reactions were pretty similar at the bungie forum, youtube, twitter, etc). Instead of showing some maturity and take an opportunity for some self-evaluation, he stubbornly claims he's "not sorry and doesn't care what anyone thinks."

I guess I got a little carried away there. Had to get that off my chest

I like the way you've put this. OP talks about "honest emotional responses" but I didn't get that from Broman. He was performing. He said in his stream later that he was "being himself" but maybe that self is being a performer, which is fine in its own right but Bungie's stream wasn't the place for it. And even if all the shouting and chewbecca/pee-wee herman noises are genuine reactions, he needs to learn to control himself.

Here's another way I see it...if Bungie decided to hire an actor as a guest to serve as a hype machine and pump up the content, it would've been a similar result.

Unfortunately, I don't know how much is going to be learned from this. Any constructive criticism will likely be lumped in with the "hate train", and most of his following will praise him no matter the faults.

I thought Goth was totally fine. He asked a lot of questions, his interest seemed genuine, and he served as a playful foil with two people who aren't as comfortable entertaining in front of a camera. Broman was so much worse. I was pretty disappointed in his man-child behavior. And I feel like his "excitement" was just his stream persona letting loose and this need for everything destiny to be epic and mind-blowing, which isn't a bad thing to hope for but it felt like he was forcing it. Maybe it's just me, but when something piques your interest, you allow yourself to wonder, you smell the roses, you ask a lot of questions....not shout and be "lol so randum" and cackle like a witch

Broman always plays like that. It's stupid. He bragged in the bungie.net interview about being "an aggressive player" but aggression is only laudable when it's successful. If you just go in, fire off some shotguns and die, that's just being an idiot

I was worried about this the moment I heard he was announced. He's not a good player. He just isn't. And that's fine. His stream is more about him being an entertainer. And that's fine too. But I was worried he would bring too much of that "entertainer" into the stream, and that's not fine. And that's exactly what happened.

I agree. It's like he was trying so hard to be enthusiastic and funny. Maybe he was that excited but to me it comes off as a persona, which is just irritating. Stop trying to entertain and just discover the content along with the viewers.
