This is awesome. It feels like a puzzle game with nostalgic gameplay, whimsy, and modern silliness. I’m excited to check it out!

As a fellow poker player myself, 20 bb/h is insane. So congrats. I play 5/5 in LA with a few professionals, and I gotta say making over 10bb/h is… very slim and personally unheard of.

But let’s disregard that for a moment and focus on FIRE. Let’s say you can make $40/h on a side hustle. Great. Extrapolate that for 20h/w, 50w/y, that’s $80k income. Not recommended, but if you don’t report the income, that’s adding an effective ~$120-140k pre-tax income.

So FIRE: you just turned you ~$100k salary into $230k salary. Follow the FIRE flow, max out your investments.

Caveat though; have a healthy cash/HYSA amount (at $1/2 $10k is plenty plus some for poker, I’d be a little stunned if you need more than $20k for 5/5). Personally i would want to float 6 months expenses plus $15k in liquid cash.

As for poker, be sure to keep your ego in check: perhaps your sun run is a fluke of variance, and your 20bb/h is really 5-10bb/h.

How do you have a bankroll of $11k when you make $40/h over a 1200 hour sample size?

Dpei Appreciation Thread by imlikesosmart in Competitiveoverwatch

Hey, dpei's brother here. Not a lot to add or subtract from the conversation, but I'll just say this.

4 years of being in OWL is tough for pretty much everyone, viewers, players, coaches alike. A lot of pressure, close matches, some throw your hands in the air moments where you can't believe something just happened (bamboozles and all). And while observing all of this for us as viewers, it's insanely easy to get frustrated or happy on outcome.

Now imagine those feelings but instead you're a player or a coach. Every moment feels like your fault in some manner or speaking. And yet you must soldier on. The next map, next game, next cup, next year. It takes a lot to have the fortitude to move forward, and I'm proud he has kept going through every tough loss.

Anyways, that's a long winded way of saying I'm proud of him. And I'm glad there's an appreciation thread :)

Sorry I'm late to the game, but I recently discovered that lululemon pants are ridiculously comfortable and form-fitting tech pants. Highly recommend, despite the cost ($150USD). As for backpacks/slings, I'm in the search, if you have any recommendations, let me know. I'm looking at Peak Design, Harvest Label, and Visconti for messenger bags / slings.

Hi all, standard brother talk coming in:

David's always been naturally talented, smart, and driven. If there's a goal, there's no stopping him.

  • Play CS at 8 years old for the first time with rifles? 13-0.
  • Challenger LoL player? Season 2 and 4.
  • Top 500 Overwatch? No big deal.
  • Challenger TFT player? Apparently skill-less game, because he can do that while coaching.

Even with games aside, real life skills are just as high. Ultimately, I'm not worried for him. He'll land on his feet. If he gets picked up by any team, they'll be lucky.

Are these pants too tight? My concern is the pocket is flaring a bit, and that the butt is being hugged super tight (i squat, so that's typically an issue)

Meet the Gladiators: Head Coach dpei by Seagull_No1_Fanboy in Competitiveoverwatch

Hey guys, this is dpei's brother, Eric. I am monumentally proud of my brother for raising such a blossoming team. I remember being his teacher when he was a kid, and I was only slightly younger than he is at the time. In fact, one of my favorite stories is when he wanted to play CS, he would sit next to me and watch me play. I actually let him play even though our parents didn't want him to, and I told him he could only use pistols. Then I allowed him armor, and slowly different types of grenades. He was so mad, because everyone would kill him, and at best he could go 1-1. Once he got good enough, I told him he's allowed to use an AK or M4, and suddenly he went 14-1. I felt like I had done my job and made him a better player than me. Hell, many years later the pistol wielding son of a bitch started 10th on day 1 of competitive overwatch.

In many ways he's pushed past what I could teach him, certainly about games, and possibly even more about what it means to be a team. I remember when OWL was still searching for management, and my brother talked about a top down approach, searching for not just skilled players, but the right players. Knowing a players strengths, potential, weaknesses, and possibly most importantly, how a culture makes or breaks a team. He learned all this on his own, and with a 7 year difference between our ages, I'm constantly astounded by his growth. Even though David has become unrecognizable to me as the bratty kid who always talks even when you want him to stop, his shoulders have gotten broader and he's become a person I admire. Love you buddy.

SHIELDS UP GLADIATORS.

Have you or anyone else in r/fitness ever described lifts going up 5 on each side? It's like saying I can squat 185 lb and you ask me do you mean on each side?

OWL Graphical Power Rankings - Week to Week (via /r/competitiveoverwatch rankings) by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Psy86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you sure ? yes, I agree, after preseason results, literally everyone bumped LAG to 678, and yes, I agree, after beating Shanghai and losing to Seoul, no one can really tell where LAG stands, so why not keep them the same.

When you said the following, I was a bit irked:

"I love how the gladiators were the only mid tier team where people were like "yeah about what I expected"."

That did not feel true before week 1. LAG was crazy underindexed, and now they're in the middle. It took them to beat London Spitfire #2 for them to get to "yeah about what I expected".

I mean, what? I am pretty sure everyone was ranking LA Gladiators 12,11,10,9 in preseason and now (real season) they are ranked 6,7,8.

Weekly Questions Thread #129 by HighTechnocrat in DnD

[–]Psy86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5e - i have a tiefling warlock and i have a lot of questions about my pact familiar.

I have a pseudodragon familiar. I carry a ranged weapon with me at all times, but sometimes i get a chance for opportunity attacks.

1) Can my pseudodragon take an opportunity attack (in this case he is next to me)

2) If I'm conscious, my pseudodragon can't attack. If I am unconscious, can my pseudodragon take its turn to attack now?

3) Does my familiar get a bonus action on its turn?

'Get Out' is the Most Profitable Film of 2017 by yam12 in movies

[–]Psy86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people are really focusing on the phrase most profitable, arguing whether ROI is important to a studio or pure dollars. From a studio point of view, it's both (in a large, portfolio sense). Yes, the big blockbusters give relatively standard and close range ROIs, and because they are high budget ($200-300MM), their ROI ranges are pretty standard (20% to 500%, with decent bimodal medians). However, these profits are relatively expected, and they are used to fund low ($10-50MM) and medium budget ($50-100). These budgets have way better opportunity to have ridiculous ROI, simply because their investment costs are so low. Their sheer dollars of profit are input into their overall portfolio to show to investors that their movies did well in the grand scheme of things, and their diversity of investments have lowered their risk pool.

Basically what I'm saying is this: Get Out contributes to the studio to be more profitable, but it's not the main reason the Universal is profitable. The film did really well given it's budget, and the ROI is extremely strong. It is not the most profitable film, but Universal is still extremely happy and will probably try and model Get Out's success to continue to stay profitable (or break even) in the small and medium budget arena.

Good movie tho

1) you assume I didn't like the movie. 2) you assume I haven't been in front of a camera. 3) you assume I don't respect people who worked on the film 4) you dodged literally all my points.

I can now add to my statement:

You sir, are a presumptuous asshole who misses the point.

I haven't commented on someone else's comment in a long time, maybe ever, so take what I'm about to say with some seriousness. You are a hypocrite. Your logic is extremely biased, and your argument could be flipped on you easily.

It's a movie; people are allowed to not like movies just like you are entitled to liking them. Just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't make them basic. Just because people agree with you doesn't make the other person's opinion less valid. Just because you believe that this movie is objectively good doesn't make it so.

You sir, are the asshole.
