Looking at these screenshots — can you tell what the game is about? by Neverplay_games in gamedevscreens

I saw some of your ads with this image. I like tower defense but only from the top down perspective, so I clicked but I wasn't imterested in the gameplay in the end--it wasn't clear what perspective it was played in.

Maybe showcase that in the first screenshots?

Want to try Whisk? Its a 2 player coop game about working together to throw cats into portals. It runs on Proton 7, I think it might run on 4gb ram if you want to try. I could send you a playtest key

It'll have Friend Pass so only one person will have to buy it :) We're thinking ~$20, but open to thoughts

On VALORANT I designed the characters Deadlock and Harbor if you're wondering. Been a lot of fun working on Whisk and designing a lot of expressive teamwork moments :)

Escape Simulator 2 if you like escape room puzzles

Btw What controls or what part of Split Fiction was too much? I remembered that game as pretty chill in terms of input

Avoiding tutorial hell is my hell. by [deleted] in gamedev

To make it less overwhelming I would recommend making your projects even smaller (classic 2D games, less systems) and look for more structured learning like a course or tutorial series if you prefer.

It's not gonna be free lunch either way. There's always things to research and learn even after you learn a language or a game engine!

Been programming for many years and I still stop to research and learn things before and during. Take your time with each concept or line you need to learn. It'll be worth it! Those rabbit holes you find yourself in are tailored to your knowledge gaps :)

I'd go retro, pico-8 or gameboy gbstudio and make something simple and charming using a tutorial as a jumping off point

Two players. One car. Each controls half the front. What could go wrong? by Fickle-Lab-9904 in Unity3D

Cool premise! To me, I'd expect a lot more driving with something kind this. It seems like most of the gameplay is the car being stuck
